i needed to do this..
sorry dave and mark
the S8 really does look a nice bit of kit but will anyone who is a truly passionate audi fan own one or do we think that people of a certain tax bracket will buy them.......??
and can you be of a certain tax bracket and be a truly passionate audi fan or am i being stereotypical???
a flagship model has to give a certain presence on the road and i think that the A8 ticks a different box than this.
before my S4 went pop i was thinking of whether an A8 4,0D was a good buy for me but now i'm back to my normal self again.
probably motorway cruising and nights going to the london palladium would be more suitable ---------debate please!!!! |

the tax bracket that costs you 40%
In other words / earning more than you care which equates to spending what you like but
not nessecerily caring about what you have spent it on....
scinicle perhaps.
don't get me wrong I really like the a8 and as I said nearly bought a 4l tdi but all the new s8's I have
seen have been driven by blue collers!!!
not sure that these will be a model enthusiasts. |

I drove one when they were first launched and they are an awesome piece of kit.
There was one at Vmax last time and it went really well and that was with "four up". Lovely car. |

Having been in the VW scene for years I think that Audi's are seen as being that bit more expensive, look at the price of a 2003 RS6 and it's still more than an 08 Golf GTi. I think the S8 is a cracking car, yes new it does cost the same as a house (in some places), but to get something that big to travel that fast and handle as well as it does is amazing. So I think that a 2/3 year old one is great value for money.
Also looked good in The Transporter 2.
I'm half tempted with a 2000 S8, They cost penuts now and if I go for some big upgrades on my S4 then I'll need something to use for work. |

As said in another thread (in fact maybe it should be moved to this forum), the prices of the D2 S8 are now rock bottom, a lot of (luxury) car for your money, and pretty nifty on the handling for a big barge. |

Even the A8 4,0L was a fantastic car to drive...
Amazing luxury options the car had...and you feel like a king of the kings when driving it..good handling. yeah miss it a bit. good fun! S8 would be even better.
And good luck with your choice... |
