Some photos rather than the renderings we've seen before:

Specs:

Sorry about the quality - grabbed from a PDF

The engine I assume no different to the S5, but a separate animation has been released:

Nice one Graham,

the exhaust pipes look slightly larger - more like the SQ5 ones which is a good move, the piddly B8 ones let it down a bit.

For me neither look particularly inspiring, perhaps nicer in the flesh when released. They look a bit like the SEAT Exeo range I think.

I think the Avant looks way better..

And it's nice to see that torque 'curve' again

I like the rear-end of the saloon and the interior!

I do not like either at all. The shape, the lines, the lights, the vents, the mirrors, the grille... nothing!

I dont think people buy one on what it looks like, more what it can do, especially the S4. Its the usual slight tweak of current styling so as not to upset serial new Audi buyers to much and it works so why change.

Torque curve is brilliant.  I ll let some else take the depreciation hit and maybe buy one in 5-6 years time lol.

Chrome grill goes straight in the bin, I don't understand why they persist with that bit.

If you want a pretty car buy an Alfa.

The photos are much better than the images on Facebook.

Still think the mirrors and the grill inserts in chrome are a bit naff.

Interior looks great however as does turbocharged power - I imagine that lump has a lot of potential!!

I can't think of anything to criticise really. 3.0 direct injection v6 with a single twin scroll turbo: Deep joy and the torque curve proves it.

Oh, actually I'm so old fashioned that I'd like a manual

I'm looking forward to the 8 speed titptronic, even though I am sure it will be tamer than the similar box in the C7 RS.

Coullstar, totally agree with the Alfa comment. But past S4's have been quite good looking in a subtle kind of way. But this car just seems visually horrible.

David, I should have commented on performance as well. Can't disagree anywhere on that.

Now I don't know what is happening here, but I find the avant stunning and the saloon really disappointing.

Saloon looks like an S3.

But I'm wondering if a slight height drop on the saloon might be the answer.

I can see an RS style front bumper being a popular mod to give the front end some aggression that seems a bit lacking.  I suspect it's quite colour and spec sensitive in visual terms.

Engine should be awesome but until we can drive it we can only speculate how well it works with the box.  The bulletproof reliability of a proper auto will be nice
