Yes you can, but the gains are quite small.

My wife had an 2003 ST220 estate for a couple of years, and it felt as flat as a pancake,.....diesels were leaving us behind in it. I considered a remap for it, but decided the gains on an NA car like that just weren't worth the outlay.
