So seeing the other run up in scotland makes me want to organise something for us southerners.

Think a Wales run, could be a day or a weekend, I'll do some research into road worth driving and the odd sight to see on the way.

Thinking sometime in April perhaps, just before Easter and before the tourists start arriving and clogging up the roads

Who would be interested in something like this?

I'll get researching but please any local/previous knowledge will be helpful!

Cheers

Pretty flexible on dates so we can decided that nearer the time.

I'll do some research at some point and put together some options/routes

Definitely keen, living in Swansea I would definitely recommend some roads in the Brecon Beacons, the A4069 is incredible.

So here is an initial thought:

4.5 hours driving, 150 miles. Fuel usage dependent on the excitement

Using Abergavenny as a rendezvous point to all meet (however I have an extra bit planned from Chepstow for those coming over the bridge). Basic idea is to go over Gospel Pass, across the top of the Brecon's down the A4069, back up through the Brecon's down the B4560 and circle back to Abergavenny.

Here are some street views to get the juices flowing:

Gospel Path

Across the top of the Brecon Beacons

A4069

Back up to Brecon

Final run down Brecon back to Abergavenny

Thoughts and suggestions?

You'll have fun going over the Gospel Pass as you head down/past Llanthony.
If you're in a convoy and meet any tractors (or anything really) it's mostly single-track. And the locals take their time.....
Had a trip down there a year or so ago in my S8.

Based in Abergavenny that trip and managed a Michelin-starred dinner nearby http://www.thewalnuttreeinn.com/ .

Do you reckon Gospel Pass is worth the hassle, anywhere else in the area worth trying instead?

I was being more of a tourist so can't say much about other roads; that one was interesting though.

Now if you want to know about historical sights, castles, churches, restaurants, pubs, caves, vineyards and distilleries I can advise.....

Thinking Sunday 26th March. Meet in Abergavenny for 9am?

The drive home after will be busy as travelling on Sunday evening is never good but hoping the day will be fairly quiet

Who's in?
