The Blue Thunder stripping fund has just donated. Well done Karis, you are a very brave little girl!

I spend about an hour a day on these forums, and have never heard a word about this fundraising appeal before? Must be loads of members who are in the same boat. Only spotted it today because I "accidentally" went to the home page.

It's been our homepage feature twice, a global announcement on the forum twice, there are 5 threads about it in the fundrasing forum, each has been bumped a number of times. We've also promoted it on facebook and twitter.

We are open to any suggestions that will help us with promotion There is a fine line with fundraising however, not everyone appreciates blatent 'tin shaking' which is fair enough.

I hope you feel able to make a contribution or enter the raffle

I can see the forum has done plenty to raise awareness - but somehow I missed it all!

I never visit the homepage - didn't even realise there was a fundraising section (I've never thought to look at anything else but classifieds and B5 section) and I didn't know SRS was on twitter or facebook!

The only thing I can suggest which would have brought it to my attention would be a banner / alert (in the centre at the top) similar to the sponsors banner over on the right hand side.

I wouldn't have taken that as tin shaking - as long as it wasn't flashing away distracting my eye from the posts etc. I would guess that a large majority of members don't know about Karis and this appeal and would gladly donate if they did!! It's really good to see the forum doing things like this.
DavidT

Thanks for your reply carpy

Banner is a good idea, we will get one sorted.

The best way to 'read' the forum is to click new posts in the menu at the top. That will show you all threads with new posts since your last visit, including what forum they are in.

Fingers crossed more people will see the SDR4KARIS appeal and contribute or enter the raffle.

Many thanks for your donation
DavidT

This comp is still open

Here is an entirely shameless but well intentioned BUMP!
ski

No such thing as a "Shameless bump" for a great cause
GrantF

Another bump to remind folks this competition is still open for participation, though will likely be ending soon.

Karis continues to make impressive progress, as her strength levels are building, however we will still need to take her to a private physio for some time, so the proceeds of this competition will help us to support that going forward.

To all those who have contributed so far, thank you very much for your support.
DavidT

Thank you very much everyone who has entered this competition.

We will leave it open until midnight on Wednesday 31st October. So there is still time for a last minute entry

It will be drawn independently and the winners will be announced here and in Audi Driver Magazine.

Good luck !
DavidT

Congratulations to the winners of this competition:

1) £ 750 Milltek voucher - marc1
2) £ 350 Milltek voucher - graemep
3) £ 100 Milltek voucher - R5OTV

The prize was kindly drawn by Sally and Neil at Autometrix.

Thank you very much everyone for supporting this competition, especially Milltek!
DW

Doh! Just when I need a new catback!

Well done to the winners
GrantF

Huge thanks to everyone who participated in this competition and any other fundraising, and congratulations to the three winners.

By way of an update. Karis is continuing to improve and attain new physical achievements all the time. Sometimes it's the little things like being able to climb in and out of the car on her own, or getting up steps with only limited support.

She's already achieved a few of her pre-operation goals which were to:

1. Be able to skip
2. Go to dance classes
3. Do handstands (though the technique is still getting honed)

We still take her weekly to horse riding lessons and swimming lesson, as well as every fortnight take her to a strength building physio to increase her core strength and leg muscles.  This is very typical trait in children with Cerebral Palsy as the condition makes the muscles tight from birth, which limits their ability to build strength.

We met the Dr who undertook her operation in March and he stated that Karis is doing terrific and in years to come, shouldn't have any limitations to what she wants to do, which would be a truly wonderful achievement for her.

Great progress

Grant, it's great to hear she shouldn't have limitations in the future.  You must be over the moon.
graemep

Good to hear Karis is doing well, and can live life to the full now - great news!!
marc1

David, any idea when Milltek/AMD will be getting in touch officially?  Cheers

My humble apologies, second place is gdavison, not graemep. To his credit, graemep is still speaking to me.

Today.

The takeup of 2nd and 3rd prizes has delayed it. GrantF will post up something interesting about that shortly
GrantF

DavidT is correct.

Our 2nd and 3rd prize winners have very generously offered to donate their prizes to raise further funds which will go towards the ongoing costs of our private physiotherapy and strengthening courses for Karis.

So for those interested, there will be an eBay auction for both Milltek vouchers totalling £450 (same terms as before).

I'll post up details later tonight hopefully, with a link to the auction.

GrantF

Just a quick reminder to say that the auction for the vouchers finishes at 10:30 this evening anyone is interested and maybe missed the earlier posts.
