1999 B5 S4 - KWs, B6 Front Brakes+

For Sale – 1999 B5 S4 Avant, Aluminium Silver (LY7M), Black Leather/Carbon Inlays, 174335 miles

Hi Everyone,
After nearly five and a half years of ownership it is time for me to move on from B5 ownership and move on to a B8. I’ve thought long and hard about how to present this advert but have concluded that the chances are, like me, you will decide whether to come and see the car based on the pictures (unless something in the text puts you off!). So, here below are what I consider to be the highlights.

Suspension:
• Full Meyle HD front control arm kit (from All German Parts Ltd) – Fitted Sept 2013
• KW Variant 1 (Inox Line) coilovers – Fitted Jan 2016
• Full Meyle HD rear end bush kit (from All German Parts) – Fitted Jan 2016
• Powder coated upper wishbones, lower wishbones and shock towers (from Stevieyid) – Fitted Jan 2016

Front Brakes:
• Reconditioned B6 S4 calipers – Fitted Aug 2014
• New OEM B6 S4 discs – Fitted Aug 2014
• New Ferodo Premier B6 S4 pads – Fitted June 2017

Rear Brakes:
• Reconditioned FL B5 S4 calipers + braided hoses – Fitted April 2016

Exhaust:
• Full twin-pipe custom stainless system from cats back – Fitted by previous owner

Wheels/Tyres:
• OEM B6 S4 wheels – Fully reconditioned April 2016
• 10mm spacers front, 15mm spacers rear
• x4 225/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 3s – All even wear + good tread

Engine:
• Remapped by previous owner to ~300bhp

Servicing:
• FSH – Serviced at QRSport and Unit 20 during my ownership
• Cambelt changed by Martin at Unit 20 Aug 2016

Misc work carried out:
• New OEM steering rack – Fitted Jan 2014

MOT/Tax:
• MOT – Expires March 2018
• Tax – N/A (I pay monthly direct debit)

There are only two minor negative points about the car, neither the rear wiper nor the CD changer have worked for a couple of years. As you can see above I have spent a fair amount of money on the car so decided I could live without these functions. Otherwise, the car is genuinely great and I fear I will really miss it when I move onto a ‘new’ B8. It feels really solid and assured when driving at speed. The classic B5 ‘lag’ is addictive too.

In terms of price, I am looking for £4700

The mileage is higher than some would like but is an average of only ~9.5k a year. In addition, as you can see above I have ensured it has had everything it has needed and more in the 34k miles and 5 ½ years whilst in my ownership.

I hope you like the advert. For now the car is only for sale on here as I would love it to go to a true enthusiast. Please drop me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks for looking. John

Forgot to state in the ad yesterday that when the reconditioned facelift B5 S4 clalipers and braided hoses were fitted last year that naturally brand new discs and pads were also fitted (both OEM)

Hi there. I'm based in Chester.

To be honest I don't know who mapped it. I was happy with the power delivery from the day I bought and I've never thought it needed more and so have never questioned it or worried about it.

The previous owner is on here so I'll try to find him and send him a PM. Failing that you are welcome to drive it and see what you think

Challice, quick update. I found an old post from the previous owner and have sent him a PM. I'll let you know as soon as he gets back to me

Evening chaps. Miss this thing... it was a fantastic motor!

It was Map-Tech who re-mapped it for me. He was quite thorough in getting the correct map for it, making sure all the issues with it were addressed first before putting a map on it. I'm sure if you get in contact with them, they'd be able to give you a bit of info on it. Plate was G5EEE at the time. Hope that helps.

Star man Giles! Thank you mate

Ah cool thanks

I've just checked the Map-Tech website and it states 310bhp and 480Nm for the B5 S4. As I said, I never had reason to worry

Re - turbos

Hi john

I'm new to all this so please bear with me whilst I find my feet. I can't see any mention of any turbo work. Is the car still on it's original factory turbos?

No problem at all, all questions are welcomed. Yes, original factory turbos as far as I am aware. No receipts or mention of turbo work in the paperwork I inherited on buying the car and no turbo work during my ownership. I had the car health checked (including boost check) at Unit 20 when I bought it and all was well engine wise.

As you can see from the post I am not averse to suspension, brake and wheel mods, however I've never been one to modify engines. Perhaps if it hadn't already been remapped I would have done that but since it had I have never changed anything, only servicing and maintenance.
Happy to answer any other questions

The car is now sold. Surprisingly not via here or Pistonheads but through Autotrader.
For those who may be interested in order compare with their own cars I got £4200 in the end.

Maybe see you on the B8 forum in the near future. Just need to find one now!
