AQH,AVP engine

hi guys,

i had seen some topic talked about engine of S8 and said AQH,AVP so could someone explain to me what`s the differences of S8 engines ??

The 2 engine codes you quote both relate to the 360BHP version of the 4.2 40V motor used in late D2 S8s.  No difference in power output suggested and I believe they're interchangeable.  There may be detail differences in minor parts, or they may just originate from different engine factories.

Wikipedia has a fairly decent amount of info on the S8 in terms of the earlier and later powerplants with 340 or 360BHP if that's what you want to know?

thnx bro.

also I have a couple of questions ..

Is there any difference b/w S8/A8 engine or the diff. is only in transmition ..?

How can I make a diff. b/w engines types ?

am sorry coz I asked much .... ><>

Off the top of my head the camshafts are different, the inlet tappets are mechanical on the S8, the compression ratio is higher on the S8 and the S8 has a higher rev limit.

What are you trying to do?

Differences between a Sport spec A8 and an S8, aside from the anorak specific stuff, are the power output (no A8 has the 360bhp motor) and gearing.  This is down to the gearbox and diff

actually I am going to buy S8 and I want to make sure that it`s with its original engine ...

also can I install a turbo on S8 4.2 engine .. if it is so, what do I need to add extra ?

Not worth the aggravation - you really need a complete rs6 motor and it's not a straight swap. There's a couple about - 1 in the USA and another in Scandinavia I believe. Neither are anything close to stock

With the kind of questions you're asking I'd suggest you forget that idea and buy an rs6 if you want a turbo car

For your suggestion I need to have more money for that and I don`t  . . . . ><>

If you're going turbo, then I would be more inclined to think of a single turbo solution, that places the turbo at the rear of the engine, above the tranny area, assuming there's enough room.

I haven't looked at mine to see what space is like, but you'd have to reverse the intake manifold, placing the throttle body at the front. And you'd definitely need to lose the internals of the variable intake manifold, as with forced induction, they'll be useless.

The most important aspecs will be proper turbocharger selection, injectors and a tune specific to your set-up.
