Audi RS4 B5 - Avus Silver 490BHP 500lbft

Hi All,

I've been a little inactive on here  - enjoying the car too much...! But it's sadly time to sell.

Here's the advert, just on here for the moment but will be up on Pistonheads at some point. The car is located in Cardiff, many thanks for looking,

Laurence

Audi RS4 (B5) 490BHP 500ft lbs (2001)
121,000 miles £15,750

Sadly, after nearly 6 years I have to put this great car up for sale. I have been the 5th owner. It’s been faultless, and maintained by MRC without compromise. The spec is massive as listed below. It’s currently producing 490BHP and 500ft lbs with a 0-60 time of 3.6seconds by the previous owner. Many of you may remember this as Rob Hunter’s car and can vouch for how well he looked after it.
I’ve continued to maintain and enhance it irrespective of cost so it currently wants for nothing. Always run on Tesco Momentum or Shell V-power, with full warm up and warm down.
The double whammy of a wedding and new house purchase mean it has to go. I’m hugely reluctant to sell it so will not part with it easily!
It’s behaved immaculately throughout my ownership and been given the usual MRC treatment every year, so should serve whoever buys it well for years to come.
New MOT and complete service less than 4 weeks ago at MRC with no advisories and no additional work needed. It’s also just had 4 brand new Conti Sport 6 tyres this month, and a paint repair to the front bumper as one of my neighbours kindly reversed into it 2 months ago – I’m still fuming… So for all this, I’ve spent over £1800 on the car in the last 4 weeks, just to get it ready for the lucky new buyer..!
It’s covered 121k miles but is still being used regularly so expect this to rise.

This comes to in excess of £16k alone! The car has been meticulously maintained at a huge cost. I have all the receipts plus full documentation of the service history.

Most of the interior plastics have been replaced including the RS side strips (£500). The old crackly Bose speakers have been changed for Infiniti 1s, the difference is remarkable. Even the interior carpet has been replaced because the old one had a wear hole in the driver’s footwell, as many of these suffer from.

A vast majority of hoses have been replaced along with the fuel lines. The power amplifiers and coilpacks have also been replaced. The car has been frequently pressure tested by MRC and therefore performance is never compromised! Lambda and EGT sensors have been replaced.

The exterior and interior modifications have been carefully selected to improve the usability and drivability.  Most of the parts have been added within the last few years so the car looks and drives like new with a sound that is amazing!

The car has never been raced around a track although it would make a great track car if that’s what someone wanted.

The body work and interior is in beautiful order and looks as good as a 5 year old car, allowing for a few age-related marks.

The car had a new clutch fitted by MRC by the previous owner at a cost of £750 after the 0-60 attempt!

The cams, lifters and chains plus cambelt kit were fitted at 70k at a cost of £3.5k and a full cambelt service was re-done in 2016 so that's yet another expensive bill you won’t have to pay! In the last 3 years it has also had, amongst other things, new rear discs and pads, new auxiliary coolant pump, new drop links, new inner track rods, new rear wish bones, new front pads and discs and a new oil cooler.

You'll certainly find cheaper RS4s for sale but many look tired and costs will soon spiral out of control when adding basics mods, and you’ll also find ridiculously overpriced ones.

There are of course a few minor bad points as with any >15 year old car. Although only 4 years old, a couple of the alloys have some minor curbing and there are a few of the usual age related body marks. The dash display has an intermittent fault with some of the pixels but this is really very minor. Having said all that, I’m not convinced that photos do this car justice.

Please no canvassers or test pilots. I will need proof of insurance if you would like to test drive the car, plus, please don't come see the car if you don't have the funds available.

This is far too cheap.
Blairz25

I thought the same, this should be around 20k at least looks great and a huge history
MPG MAN

Cracking car. I'm very interested. Can I view tomorrow please?

Please PM your number to dicuss.

Thank you
Gary
larryvt

Yeh thanks guys. Thought I'd done my research!

I've just had someone local potentially offer a more.

This'll teach me...
eliano

I live in cardiff and have never been lucky enough to see this beauty, if i didnt have the b7 rs now id be all over this. This will be gone quick
THERMT

Yeah, with the spec of this its really cheap. Bargain for someone
larryvt

Thanks for all the comments.
I'm afraid the price is gonna have to change.
I'd be an an idiot to not take all this advice on board, I've had so many comments about this, and in no immediate rush to sell.
Sorry if this now puts a few off.
Adam L

The price is miles off! Get it changed
larryvt

OK, so apologies to all but price needs to go up.

NEW PRICE - £18500
bigee

Still looks a very reasonable price to me, looks great, great spec and history as well. Seen far worse than this for sale.
GLWS mate .

NEW PRICE - £18500

That's a first I've seen on here.
larryvt

Yes... I'm not proud. This wasn't my intention!
Blairz25

It was to cheap mate, it's got a extensive history and big jobs appear to have been done.

£18500 reasonable price depends how much off a hurry your in I'd still push it up a little
NogaroDrew

Looks a nice car mate. As said I've never seen a car go up in price though A guy I know from home is looking for an Avus at the moment and this seems a great spec. What way are the arches and cills as they are notorious to rust here?
Zildjian

Aye, still very reasonable, in today's market
james28

A lovely looking example
.
Dryden51

Todays market with all those jobs done, I'd say a bargain! Looks very nice.
AmirRS4B5

Worth that all day long. 15k was too cheap, you can get dogs that have been molested for 15k!! GLWTS
pjbRs

Nice car look even better on the standard rims.

I think 18k is spot on.
JamieOS

I wish I had 18.5k right now
larryvt

Sadly I think the original rims went a long time ago, looking through the paperwork.

You can see more detail around the arches if you head into my Flickr page through the photo links.

I'll try and upload some more photos for those interested.
kmm

I was expecting over £20k and thought your first price was a mistake. You're well within your rights to adjust your price....... potential buyers better be quick as the price is increasing next week lol.
Good luck and it will sell fine as it tick all the boxes.
timd

Nice car at a good price
Ghazi

Hi,

Is this car still for sale? If so could you send me a contact number
Would like to arrange a viewing.

Regards
Graney15118

As many have said, the original price was way too cheap, I nearly choked when I saw it haha! Good idea to up the price

Lovely example at a great price, good luck with the sale fella
oldscool

Looks stunning and I might be quite interested in this. However, being a very desirable and rare car- this should sell very quick on this forum.
I think the car is worth somewhere between the original asking price and what it's been put up to.
Perhaps raising the price because you have quite a bit of interest may put some off?

Thanks mate, you're welcome to view it any time.
You may have a point about upping the price. It was never my intention to put anyone off but I understand why some might be.
Having said that, I genuinely made a mistake, and had underpriced it.
There are so few for sale, one on auto trader that looks like a dog for nearly 17 grand, 8 on pistonheads almost all over 19 grand, and another could on eBay and gumtree when I last checked.

I don't think mine needs anything, and don't particularly want to sell it - I just need a house... and a wife!
LordFarkward

Very nice car, GL with sale.

Just wanted to check - you drive 2-hours to MRC every time for a check up?

Hi, many thanks.

Yes, every year! Day off work and a lot of time in Banbury coffee shops.... Luckily it's only needed work outside of the service once.

How has this not sold???? Surely people would be ripping your had of for this at that price???
larryvt

Maybe I should put the price up!
SinghB7

Would have been interested in the first price listed untill I scrolled down. :/

Maybe start again with a new advert?
oldscool

I've never really seen a car get listed on a forum and then price going up a couple of £grand. If it's very keenly priced it wouldv sold by now?
rs6fan

The wheels are uber awful!
pjbRs

I would definitely get them wheels swapped for standard.

Then start a new advert and stick to your asking price.
larryvt

This is fast becoming the most notorious advert on here... sadly.

You reduce the price of something and people feel they are getting a bargain; increase the price and people feel they're being robbed. It's psychology, nothing to do with the car. I wish I'd got the price right first time!

Unfortunately, I don't have the original wheels.

Those who are unsure, just come and see the car. There's nothing to hide here!

Thanks all.
SimonS3

It is a cracking car fella.
Dont get hung up by the misery posters. Trust me they all 'really' want your car 'for nowt'
I bought one last year as an investment for my sons future. I cocked up using it as a dailly and an unfortunate overnight parking situation (twocers love these cars) but hey ho.
Pounds in the bank are worthless interest wise at present.
If you dont have to sell DONT.
Keep it safe and keep using MRC.
In 5 yrs your car will command £40k+. More than twice your asking now.
PS your wheels look much nicer than my boleros on my tqs.
Regards
Simon
