Once in a blue moon these epic build threads surface. Was sent a link to this last night. Some crazy buffoon with a passion for quality and isn't shy of a little elbow grease has spent the last 7 years building an S1 replica from scratch with a beast of an engine.
Built by a guy called Dave Rowe from EPS Motorsport.
Just spent the last 45 minutes reading through the posts. The attention to detail is just something else!
Looks like enoguh room to turn it on some jacks and out through one of the garage doors (withtheh tool cabinets moved etc). I think the lens on the camera makes it look smaller than it is.
Perhaps but even then are the doors wide enough?
They look narrow for sure (although I still wonder if that is the camera). My assumption is that is the exit. I skim read the thread and did not see it mentioned. The guy clearly has ample resources, it would seem rather odd not to correctly fit the garage first. Maybe there is some reason to it, it would be nice to know.
It was mentioned by the guy on the last few pages and questioned by another but he never answered.
Anyway detracting from a truely epic build here, I bow down to that level of commitment. Wish I had the patience to do a build like this but it's just not in my nature.
What car was that engine fitted to?
He's well known on the jap scene for his remaps he done work on a few of my cars and some mates. I'm sure he's good friends with Keith at dynalix
I really want a project car like this, not quite an s1 but a SWB Quattro would do me!
Keep toying with flogging the r8 and building something unique. Only problem is that I'd have to pay someone to do it too as I'm incompetent mechanically!
Off to browse pistonheads again....
Yum yum. That looks bang tidy. Would love an original short wheel base quatro.
Normally I am not a fan of replica quattros (I am lucky enough that i work on several genuine ex works cars).
But this i like, its not trying to be an original S1 E2, its a just serious piece of kit, and a showcase of his engineering talent.....
