AudiSRS Charity Business Support - can you help?

Does anyone have a contact who can help us increase the money raised with a contribution from a business please? I'm thinking of the scheme Barclays run/ran where they double the amount raised where a member of their staff is involved in fundraising.

I know a couple of businesses that would be willing to contribute products opposed to money that could be used in auction/raffle/prizes/etc.

I think more people need to get their wallets out on this forum, they use this forum free of charge, the least they could do is donate a couple of quid for a good cause for using it!
DavidT

Yeah, we need more raffle prizes. We have a number confirmed (I'll update the list when I finish work) but the more the merrier

See threads here: http://audisrs.com/about7964.html & http://audisrs.com/about7966.html

This thread is about getting a business to sponsor the whole fundraising activity to increase the total amount raised

I understand what you're saying about users of the forum, but this forum is free to use without any conditions. The sponsors of it and the effort people put in for free sees to that

We choose (as a forum) to raise money for charity but people are not obliged to give anything. I hate 'tin shakers' myself, some got me at SP and I did not like being put in a position where I felt obliged to give them money in front of other people, no matter how good the charity! I give to charity on my own terms, as and when I see fit & this is how AudiSRS approaches its charity activities I hope we do stuff and people give if they want to

Sure. Just my opinion for something people take for granted, like anything in life.
bluebrakes

Just spoken to one of them. They're in.
They're going to donate some wurth and some castrol stuff.

However the condition is, they want to be plugged in some way.

Well done Dave and Mark - good initiative - I sincerely hope your ventures are successful.

But this type of comment (see above) really infuriates me: I can't abide the "Bob Geldof" attitude of "get yer forkin' money out!" - maybe you should ask the right questions before you make statements such as this - i.e. does anyone here already give to charity, and on a regular basis?

I for one have 4 SO's from my bank account and give 50 per month, EVERY month, split across 4 children's charities, and have done so for the last 9 years - so I figure I've given 5,400 to charity out of my own wages, and will continue to do so as long as I have the money to give.

If you want to make a difference try committing to some charities and give REGULARLY instead of mouthing off about one-off donations and your opinion of what "people ... on this forum" should do!

Sorry to go OT Dave/Mark - but comments like that really wind me up.

Ultimately what you do with your money is up to you. What I've said doesn't stand up to much. It is merely my opinion and I stick by it. You don't have to listen what hot air or words I say.

Of course some people give percentages of their salary, etc. The unsung heroes of society. So consider yourself one of them.

The point I was making is some people take for granted that is a free service to them. For all the effort that goes into running a forum like this and most likely a thankless job, it would be nice to see reasonable support rather than a handful of people. Especially considering the number of members.
Jules

I do indeed think most people take all manner of things for granted at some point or another - but I think you'll find Dave and Mark set this forum up to distance themselves from a certain "incident" involving money/donations that occurred over on "the other side" some while ago (among other things) - so I'm not so sure they'll be sharing your opinion on this one.

Neither do I count myself as an unsung hero (nice of you to say so though ) - but more the sort of person who can't stand to see unfortunate children suffer.

Anyway - not the correct thread for this discussion - mods, please delete.

Now you're being modest. I'm sure it's doing alot of good.

You can have a beer on me. At least to chill out.
