B5 S4 AVANT £4200

Starting a fresh and Final for sale thread.

I have been so indecisive about selling this car, every time Iíve built myself up to it I find myself spending more on it.

1999 T Registration Audi S4 in Ming Blue.
168000 Miles
8 Months MOT
2x keys
Full black leather interior
Electric everything!
Air conditioning

Modifications
Facelift headlights with uprated HID bulbs @ 5k - White.
Sony head unit fitted that has hands-free with DAB (aerial fitted).

In the last year and nine months I have changed the following;
Complete timing belt kit
Brand new radiator
Front and rear discs and pads
Both lambdas
Both recirculating valves replaced with genuine 710P's
The front 'Y' pipe boot
Two S4SID EGT boards fitted
Full rocker cover gasket set, cam caps and seals as the rears were weeping
New headlight washer pump
Complete front control arm set, the front outer CV joints and the both ABS sensors

I have serviced the car every 6 months and the last being the timing belt service.

The car doesnít miss a beat, itís not smoky, pulls when it should and always puts a smile on my face.

There are some age related marks, but nothing unexpected of its age.

In light of the recent expenditure.

Iím asking £4200 for the car. I will be placing a SORN on the car whilst itís stored in the garage as itís not in use anymore.

Recognise the car as I've seen it a few times parked up in the location in the third photo, and had a quick look in passing the other weekend - very clean car and great condition for the age/mileage, GLWS!!
Alex Rhys

Well thank you very much fellow B5 stalker and possibly DataCentre frequenter
Hoyle

Fair price, lovely condition & spec. GLWS
Alex Rhys

Much appreciated Hoyle!

Hi.
I can't send pm as I am new to this forum, otherwise i would. I am after an s4 and yours looks great and unmolested. I have an audi coupe quattro 20v but its currently stuck in garage due to full engine and suspension rebuild, also bits of spraying, so im stuck without a car for a while.
I'm genuene audi enthusiast and i spent a while looking for genuene cq 20v and now i do same for s4, unfortunately there isn't many about. I want to make an offer considering my circumstanses but please don't be offended if its totaly not what you are looking for. To get the car from where it is would be a 500 miles round trip for me and it will cost me quite a bit, otherwise i would not even be making this attempt, because its fair price, what you are asking for it. However taking into account that it will require service and probably some bits doing to it, i can only afford to spend £3500. So as long as it runs and drives i would have it at that price without even looking at it.
Kind regards, Arthur.
Alex Rhys

Arthur, I fully appreciate the offer and the kind words about the car. I did have it up for that money but after recently spending the difference in your offer on the car I have to hold on to it I'm afraid.

I'm not offended by your offer by the way, after all "if you don't ask you don't get"

Thanks again!
Alex Rhys

Annnd one of her tonight all snuggled up

I hope yo can believe that I REALLY do not mind opening the garage to this from time to time

Quattro head

You can tell even from pictures that you spent quite a bit of time on it, i appreciate your reply and honesty, hopefully i could get a bit more cash while the car is still there, but from what i can see you will have no problems selling it at asking price, it was one of them as you sayed "if you don't ask thats a definet no" this is why i was a bit uncomfortable with my offer.. but anyhow if its still there in 3-4 weeks this will be the one i am going for
Alex Rhys

Cheeky Bump
Danny-

Still for sale?
Alex Rhys

Still available, sorry for the delayed response.
Alex Rhys

Brought this out of hibernation today to take the family out. The new addition to the family's first time in the car too and she loved it i think 😀

One major problem however, 1x baby seat, 1x toddler seat and the Mrs do not fit comfortably it turns out!

So now me and my family have totally outgrown the car, it is as practical as an Elise as im rarely out without them. 🙄

I've struggled to push the sale as deep down I really don't want to sell, to regret and buy another - but now that's out the window.
GT-steve

You and me both mate..

Nobody's buying mine at the moment either, but my excuse is that buyers aren't open minded enough to contemplate that the car is far better than the mileage might suggest.

Yours on the other hand is a good price and lower mileage, I just don't understand the market at the moment????
Alex Rhys

😏 The thing is Steve, two years ago i sold my S2 for £6000. Now you wouldn't find one anywhere near as clean as my old one for less than £15000.

After that experience, I'm not too bothered about selling in a hurry.

Stick to your price Steve matey.
Alex Rhys

I have just purchased a set of these;

To be fitted Monday morning, to eliminate the unsightly arch gap and compliment the recently replaced complete control arm kit.

The price will not change.

Thanks

Alex
Alex Rhys

On replacing the suspension I have found the rear turrets to be rotten. So Ill be keeping hold of the car until I have spent a futher fortune on it...

Im destined to keep "her" I think.

Just as well theres still love there
Alex Rhys

As my build thread, I opted for coilover suspension and had to replace the rear turret/brackets as they were badly corroded.

I bought new turrets from Audi and coilovers - the car turned out looking like this...

Check;

http://audisrs.com/ftopic67314-15.php

For the complete write up in case its not been spotted.

Not including the wheels its cost me a further £600 in the last week - Im happy to only see half of that back.

On the standard wheels the car is still for sale at £4500! Ill even include the new spacers so that the original wheel do not disappear into the arch
Alex Rhys

As of today the car looks like this...

I have just completed a 500 mile trip to the south for holiday, took the S4 as we kinda know it will be the last holiday with the old girl.

Aside from the lack of space, the care performed fantastically.

Its back on standard wheels with 15mm spacers on the rear and 10mm spacers on the front - coilovers have been wound right back up!

Ill listen to offers as its the time to sell now. Shes bled me dry but I still love the old girl
Alex Rhys

Ok a bit of a "warts" post, the only body defects are pictured below and I have been quoted £200 to have these done.

Im taking this price into consideration and going to leave these for the new owner.

Hit me with some offers guys as failing this forum ill have to turn to eBay to sell the car - I would really like to see it end up with an SRS resident.

Thanks all!

this with the wife in the back for the baby? if so this period soon ends, then she can sit in the front. Could you live with the wife in the back with the baby and the toddler up front? (airbag off) unless you going big 4x4 or 7 seater you'll struggle to get much more room out of a 'conventional' wagon? once your talking 3rd child your struggling!

anyway good luck with the sale and with the family!
Alex Rhys

Toddler up front, baby behind him and wife behind me. I'm 6ft 2 🙄

So not comfy anymore at all.

Thanks dude!
Alex Rhys

Bump - no rush here just making sure people know this is up for sale still.

Again, will listen to offers.

Thanks
Alex Rhys

Hi all. A quick drop £4000.

I hasn't left the garage in over a month so its not getting any use at all now - probably worth bricking up the doors and going back to it in twenty years

Thanks!
Alex Rhys

Random bump. Ive had enquiries about the car, youth wanting to "test" the car and one person turn up to say "You want 4k for a T reg car?", to which I asked, "Why are you here?".

Someone else "Will it beat my mates Renault Mega...." - "Let me stop you there, Goodbye".

"How fast you had out of it"

I know its an S4 and they are fast cars but this is not the crowd I want to deal with, ill leave it on here only from now on until it sells. Again, not in a rush, i'm using it from time to time and find myself enjoying it more as, dare I say, a weekend car.

I hate selling cars with a passion, I really do.

Alex Rhys

It seems the market has taken a bit of a drop for these lately.

Many cheap ones about!

In light of this I'll listen to offers.

Totally agree

They shot right up for a while, following the hike in RS prices, and now several great S4s have just sat for sale going nowhere.

Breaking mine seems like a sensible thing to do now, and I never wanted to do that to a good car
stickertone

Mate, just keep it  too nice to break or give away
Alex Rhys

If I keep this, I'll end up mapping it. If I map it, something's gonna break - we all know this 😂
pwd95

Hi, do you still have the car? Message me your number.
Cheers.
Alex Rhys

SFS

Just had an oil service at Audi Cardiff and a new MAF also fitted at Cardiff Audi with receipt to prove.
Alex Rhys

Guys

£3500 - I cannot justify spending a penny on the modifications I originally intended for this car. I've spent a fortune and too much time getting it running lovely.

It just clicked to 170,000.

Someone come get a bargain, solid base.
