B5 S4 from Aus!

I've owned a B5 A4 ever since I learnt to drive and have always loved the B5 platform.

However, I have always wanted an Evo, so that's what i ended up buying. Owned that for 2years and loved it to death. S4's are quite rare in Aus, so when i came across this stock Achat grey S4 (Even rarer!), owned by an Audi specialist workshop, I knew it was my chance.

Sadly, this meant the Evo had to go :'(

Some people say i'm crazy or think im strange, but its a decision i neither regret nor am 100% satisfied. Both have their good and bad points.

The car is in immaculate condition and has been very well maintained, even though it is at 160,000km (100k miles).

First things first, get some new tint!

Much better.

I had been looking into CAI's for the S4, but thought it wasnt much point spending $500 on one. Found a mod that people claim to have some kind of effect.. I just like the induction noises

Using some desk tidy's and garden mesh, i think it turned out pretty well. Better than just drilling/butchering random holes into the side.

Ordered a XSPower TBE, non-resonated. For the price, i can't complain. O2sensors were in a slightly different spot, so had to grind away a bit of the heat shield, but nothing a little cursing and swearing can't fix.

Also hangs slightly low at the cats, but i'll probably get the cats removed and straight pipes put in. Get them to raise the whole system up a bit too. Speed bumps are quite the enemy, even at stock height.

Lovely colour👍🏼

Got a set of Vogtland coilovers

Finally got rid of that wheel gap!

jockthedog

very very nice indeed!

Strange to have an S-Line badge on the side tho....?
EvoQuattro

Yeah.. i don't know why it was there. I've removed it though
Alps

Love the S in that colour.

The rear of the car seems a little too high compared to the front. Or is that how you want it?

What is next on your list of things to do?
guymcc

Very nice, and in a cracking colour!
EvoQuattro

The front was a little low, so I did end up raising it.

Managed to get hands on a set of Brembo 18Z's! These are seriously massive..

This obviously meant the 17" Avus wheels had to go.... Oh no.. I have to get new wheels, what a pity..

Also got some new plates on the car

Challice

That's looks absolutely bang on with those wheels and ride height

I think yellow will suit the car colour nicely !

EvoQuattro

The car is basically where i want it aesthetically. Not much more i can do to it now, unless people have ideas.

Will be moving onto the interior now. Have all the parts for a double din conversion. Any ideas on a double din unit? I like the OEM-ness of the RNS units, but they're a bit outdated..
Rez

That is ridiculously clean. Superb.
Professor Peach

Well done mate looks really nice...

I have a question though,  why run a s4 and not a hsv?? I have just come back from Oz, and thank you for a lovely holiday in the best place in the world!!  I'm not joking

My opinion is the HSV sits somewhere between Americian and Euro cars. Better quality and normally much better sorted than US but a way behind the better Euro. A 15 year old HSV is really dated, you would never really see it as an equivalent to a B5.

I used to own a few of the iconic Australian muscle cars from the early 70's and they were magic in their day but now you wonder if you should even get in. Lots of power and no brakes or chassis. Today's HSV is an absolutely huge improvement on those but still falls a way short of better Euros as it ages.

That is a question I would have never expected on this forum.. lol!

Ichiba answered it perfectly, but either way I would never buy a HSV, it's just not my cup of tea. Also there's a certain image of HSV owners that i don't fancy - bogan/redneck whatever you want to call it. No offence to them.

Power per dollar, you can't really beat the HSV's i guess, they are a good bang for your buck car if you want to be brash.
