Car will not unlock

Ok, following on from my alternator thread. I've just tried to prepare my car for recovery while I'm at work and I can't open the drivers door or boot with any of my keys (i have 3 with the car). Baring in mind the battery is flat as a pancake, so no chance of using the fob.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get in the car? it's currently stuck at the side of the road

So you have 3 keys for the car Have you tried all 3 of them in the drivers door lock and tailgate lock Sounds to me like you might of had an ignition lock change at some point and it was NOT done to match the other locks. If so maybe the other locks are still "original" in which case Audi should be able to supply you with a key that'll open them. All a bit long winded so if you're stuck for time hopefully someone else will come up with another suggestion which doesn't involve smashing a window

I've seen it a few times where the metal linkage between the lock barrel and lock on the front door comes adrift.

Resulting in a key that turns, but a door that doesnt unlock.

Does your key turn in the lock?

You could carefully crawl underneath with a jump pack, and connect it to the chassis and alternator or starter motor live terminal to get some juice into the car?

All 3 keys turn in the lock but the door does not open, it'd seem the latch has come lose inside the door. What Aragon suggested about jumping the car was discussed this morning and looks like it's the only way in.

If the key turns then it can only be the linkage!

You might get the tailgate working with lots of penetrating oil.

The boot lock was solid! I didn't want to break the key it was not bad.

The starter motor was jumped in the end and we got the car open. Pain in the arse but at least I can open the bonnet now and get in the car

best fix that linkage
