Cats or NO Cats ?I know it's been asked many times before but peoples opinions change over time so I'm asking again

no cats....

100 cell, it can be an expensive downpipe change unless you know of a friendly mot tester

CAT's are for wimps
COme on, don't we all know a friendly MoT tester these days?

It's on my "things to do list"......
I currently have Milltek downpipes but plan to up-grade to some 3" downpipes and a map tweek (MRC or Viper?? ).
I'm looking at Wagners or Loba as they'll supply with cats as I don't want any ballache come MOT time and doubt 100cpi cats will restrict flow too much......

I hate to come across as Mr Boring, but since cats are needed to legitimately pass an MOT, I'd never remove them fully.
Sure I can easily get a pass without them, but I'd be knowingly driving my car in an (according to VOSA) unroadworthy condition.
Feel free to ignore me

No cats here, passed the mot no problem

No cats. As mentioned, you won't struggle to get it mot'd, and what's the chances of the car being inspected by the plod? A million to one me thinks..

Mikey, did your's pass the emission test without a problem or was it an "assisted" pass.

Mihnea, how much of a difference are you likely to see between 3" with a 100cpi cat to a 3" without??
RS4 with the above, Milltek system and your filter??
Thanks.

Sorry, I didn't mean the car will pass an emissions test, I meant there's plenty of 'friendly' mot testers around. If anyone in the NW area is stuck I can point you in the right direction..

Ahh, I'm with you.
Thanks.

I was joking really - would love to know a proper before/after figure for 2.5" DP's with CATs vs. 3" DP's with no CAT's. I'll be going straight to the latter but still a good thing for potential upgraders to know

I'd like to know the difference between 3" downpipes without and with 100cpi cats on a 500 ps B5. That is a fairer comparison.
|
Jonmurgie
|
I guess - though only option there would be the LOBA pipes or maybe the Wagner if they would do a set without CATs?
AFAIK the Milltek 3" isn't offered with CATs
|
MarkB
|
Loba offer both options but I would think it still resonably fair comparison to compare Wagner's latest 76mm with cats or Loba with cats to either Loba without or Milltek 3"
I think the Milltek have the 3" pipework for the longest length so should be the best for performance though the Wagner with nice smooth pipe, no welds are my current favourite. With or without cats
There is also Satans child downpipes but they are looking like 'a pipe dream' at the moment.

The least I would consider is a 100cpi cat, just to keep legal.
