chassis set up

just bought myself a set of scales to accurately weigh and adjust my coil overs.
i want to get the balance of the car as spot on as possible because its the chassis tuning that makes all the difference.
its not that difficult to do but i also have to reset the toe, caster and camber on all four corners.

Are you going to offer this as a service Simon?

Sounds like a good little set up.  Wish I was closer.

Corner weighting, and alignment are easily the 2 single most effective handling mods on just about any car.

I have a set of Intercomp digital scales, excellent piece of kit.

well mine has a wheel in each corner that turns   , how does this work i have seen stuff up on the forum in the past relating to corner weights etc but thought Boring   but if this makes a great deal of difference then tell me more, how does it work, what is involved in setting the car up etc.

thanks
Dave
GravityWorks

its more usually used on race/track cars than road cars, but the benefit can definitely be seen on the road if you fancy spirited driving.

Essentially, you put the car onto 4 weights, one under each wheel, then the regular driver of the vehicle sits in the drivers seat and you take measurements.

From those measurements you can work out which corners of the suspension need the coilovers changing to make the cars weight distribution neutral.

On my old s2000 we had it perfectly 50/50 split weight ratio front to back and side to side, such was the nature of the car from standard.

Obviously those sorts of figures will be hard to achieve on cars with big engines in the front etc.

Si, let me know when you're ready - I'll pop round with my car for some adjustment.

So long as it doesn't involve your lift!!

Agreed, anyone with coilover suspension should get the corner weights setup. Mad not to.

I'm going to pop up see Simon and check out the kit
