Clutch recommendations

It's really annoying when I want to floor it and I have to feather the throttle so I need to get the clutch done soon.

Got a few other jobs and checks to do so taking the engine and box out so I can do
Clutch
Cam belt, water pump and seals if needed
Rocker covers and chain tensioner gaskets
Check the turbos
Gut the down pipes
Silicon pipe work

So the question is what clutch do I go for.
I'm not going crazy on getting loads of horses from the engine. Just want a nice stage1 setup with all the jobs done so I can enjoy driving it and not worry about oil leaks or major servicing for a couple of years.

Will a rs4 clutch be up to it?
I've been looking at LUK and sach clutches

Anything I should steer clear of?

I use sachs rs4 clutch kit, slave cylinder and rs4 dmfw
works great puts power down as it should I have covered 3k and it's been ace with Oem feel for a 450*circa hp daily driver.

Defo steer away from ecp luk repset kit I wouldn't waste my time or money on risking a near future replacement again.

Just need to bed it in a good 500-1000miles before you try a WOT.

Not recommended for aggressive use... double clutching, launching etc

Other wise a twin plate will have to do.

Depends on your final spec but judging by your post, I think Sham is spot on!

Are s4 and rs4 flywheels the same?
Aragorn

the original part number is different, but the LUK replacement is listed against both numbers.

Anyone used black diamond stage 1 clutch?
Anyone running a lightweight flywheel?

Lwfw will cause chatter at low rpm and can be annoying to live with.

I put a rs dmfw and prefer the set up now .

Everyone is different tho

The lwfw can be good for rpm drop while making gear changes that little bit quicker but the chatter can he a put off with around town stop-start start driving.

Ppl use different set ups with B7 rs4 modifed pp, sitner paddle plate & lwfw for a real race setup.

But if you want oem & reliable setup the B5 rs4 kit complete is a very desirable upgrade for a B5 S4

BTW my car had stage 3 s4 kit with lwfw from cg motorsport which lasted 10k miles,
I believe the Black diamond is a decent kit but even a twin plate setup which cost over 1k will still only have a short lifespan.

Where as oem rs4 set ups have lasted up to 30k and more... depending on driving your style as mentioned above if you drive hard go for a uprated kit.

Then again all depends on what you want from the car.

I bought the loba 650 clutch kit from wotmotorsport on here. Dont get no chatter on idle, clutch feels (to me) just slightly heavier then oem. Bedded it in for about 1k miles then gave it a beating one of the weekends not long ago. Tried a launch and it was insane, gripped so well compared to my old rs4 set up with dual mass.

You won't get chatter on idle.

Chatter will be around 1,500-1,900 if you are in the wrong gear, basically utilising torque

I felt clutch was slightly lighter than OEM but I changed the slave cylinder at the same time, so that may have helped.
