Coast to Coast Walk

Folks,

I will be walking C2C starting Monday 14th. I haven't had time to organize this for charity as it was not guaranteed to go ahead. It's 190 miles and save for 1, maybe two nights, we will be camping and carrying a 40lb pack. The aim is to complete it in 12.5 days starting at St Bees Head and arriving at Robins Hoods Bay on Saturday 26th.

So if anyone would be generous enough to make any pledges of sponsorship I would be very grateful. Times are tight I know but all proceeds will go to the AudiSRS nominated charity (Leukemia) for this year's ADI event.

Cheers

Well folks, apart from saying I was starting the walk a week earlier than I actually did (bit over excited about the prospect), I finished the walk midday on Saturday 3rd Oct.

Having not not done any training beforehand the first 5 days across lakeland was tough but the views more than made up for the graft. Total effort was 12 days to cover approx 220 miles. That's a departure from the reputed 190 or so 'official' length due to some additional route choices and some small navigational mishaps

My feet are are wee bit tired and numb but should have enough feeling in them for the loud pedal at Castle Coombe. I really recommend the C2C, it is a fine way to see some of the most spectacular and diverse scenery of this fine country and purge the soul of the day to day tosh of normal life. I have posted a few pics below to give a flavour of what's in store if you ever consider it for yourself.  If you have pledged anything to the charity cause or would like to offer anything then I would be extremely grateful if you make any donations via the forums donating mechanisms.

Well done Darren.

The pictures make me want to do something similar. Were the paths pushchair friendly?

Fantastic I did the two moors route in reverse from north Devon coast to south Devon coast - 119 miles in 4 days - but staying at B&B along the way.  It was a great 4 days - but have to say the scenery on your walk looks breath taking.  What was the route you took - if you ever do anything like this again let me know as I would be keen on getting involved.

Cheers,
hiltoa

I expect a slight variation on this> http://www.sherpavan.com/trails/coast_to_coast.asp

Well done fella, I'd love to do this one day, but the biggest challenge is getting the time to do it!
DavidT

There is still time to donate to our findraising effort in the form of DW sponsorship
