Does anyone tow a caravan with an RS4?

If the campers sells then I'm looking at getting a caravan  ( I know, the shame of it)

Anyone tow?

It will be good to see some spotty oiks face though when I out do him from the lights with a snail on the back!!
quattronutter

towed my mates 24ft caravan with my old s8,didnt even know it was there until you get to a small windy road
bluebrakes

Just remember to buy a brown bag with eye holes for your head. lol

I wouldn't be caught dead towing a caravan, especially with an S/RS.

yeah yeah! I'd have said that a few years back

It's cheaper and easier to tow a caravan instead of having my camper (and a loan)

I kinda like this one..

If the camper goes, then yes it is. Small price to pay imo!

Thinking of getting one of these

My god that garbage truck conversion is amazing!

I want one!

An RS4 and a caravan?  Hmmmm not sure the 2 should ever be seen together really, but needs must.
Simple1

Mate of mine in Ireland towed a four wheel 24ft Abbey with his S6 Avant, was done at 95 mph on the road out of Dublin, he now has a B7 RS4 which he uses to pull van
lynchy

as long as your caravan is as clean as your car your be alright . At leased you wont hold up the traffic
philipwalker

Used similar to tow caravans inc my old ur, in the hours of darkness only.....

Only problem is the hight of the tow ball, some sports cars this is too low. Does not help with high speed stability.

Thinking a Westfalia removable tow bar would be the the top one to go for.

Me too

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

But if you do I am sure it will be the shiniest tow hitch in the country...concourse class.
bneaves

Found out the other day mine has a removable tow hitch. I dont have the ball though!. Its defiantly a genuine Audi one going by the stickers on it. The only thing that is strange though is the bumper has been cut very slightly underneath (cant see it when standing up) to get the removable hitch in, but the electrics are way up inside the bumper, there is no way you could plug into them without removing the bumper. Doesnt look like its ever been used though...... Random
Doug

I thought audi stated that you should not tow with the rs4?

I've heard about that somewhere too.........
bneaves

Yep, i'd heard the same, im guessing its as stated above, due to towing height of the standard a4 tow unit, as well as a car with such low volume it is not worth engineering and testing an alternative solution.I think the rear bumper also is probably not suitable for the standard cutout / clearances. But as mentioned a few times before, there is nothing physically stopping you fitting a standard  unit with small mods
mikeyquattro

Jimbo fitted a westfalia unit ok
mikeyquattro

I've been trying to find out whether I'd be legal if I fitted a towbar as Westfalia puts in there notes "excludes RS4" for their detachable towbar

I heard that too.

Well put it this way, did you see what happened to that Mitsubishi Evo when they pulled a caravan on top gear?

But that's no fun. So the rest of us are going to be stuck behind you.

Let's hope no decimal point appears in there with your caravan towing.
mikeyquattro

I will be sticking to the national speed limits as I always do

Giving everyone the chance to see how shiny he's car is

I'm hoping that it will be sooooo shiney that it will dazzle eyes so no one sees me
bluebrakes

no chance. I will be wearing a welders mask pointing and laughing at you!
jeffw

One old lady to another "Did you see that shiny Misano RS4 going slowly?"
2nd Old Lady " Sure did....must be Mikey 'cos there was a chemical toilet on wheels following it"
1st Old Lady "Well at least he can park his toilet in the New Forest..."
derdle

There is a perfectly good reason why Audi state thet you shouldn't tow a caravan with an RS4....it's just not cool.

I'll get me coat.

Paul

I think mikey must be in hiding now.

I think he's been mugged off enough now.

Just go to the cliffs of dover mikey and let it roll off the cliff... Job Done! The caravan that is.

Do that and we'll forgive you!
mikeyquattro

@ Jeff, Its got a cooker to!

@ Paul, How many coats have you got?

@ Bluebrakes, I may have a 'van on the back, but I'll still give you a good go from the lights!
