Drove the Bumblebeast into a wall :(

So reversing into my in-laws drive today I get distracted by the learner insisting on practising their reverse round a corner (it's the favourite spot of all the instructors and they often block the drive to the great annoyance of myself and my PiL!) and so also impeding my angle of attack onto the drive.
They then started driving at the side of my door, increasing my interest in them and all the while I'm backing up slowly (ignoring the parking sensors as they go mad due to the tight driveway anyway)...
Then I came to an abrupt stop as I hit the brick gate post.

Entirely my fault, but it feels better to at least partially blame the learner! Made worse of course by the fact they just watched me make this noob move!

I don't think I reported on here but I also already have a 15cm scratch/dent on my drivers side rear door where someone has either keyed it or rubbed something along it (it is parked on the side of a busy pavement which requires walkers to squeeze in to pass each other most of the time as I don't have another choice until we move house later this year).

The result was I went straight to the reputable body shop I had already researched and cried. £360 to put it all right and spray the diffuser gloss black while they are at it (which I wanted to do regardless). So it's not too bad all things considered, I just really hope their work is as good as their rep (he was saying all the right words at least and had some LOVELY motors in the shop).

Here's the damage...

Sympathy is welcomed!

Doh!

It's bloody annoying as you say but I would have been more p'ed with the other damage on the drivers rear door caused from who/whatever  which still leaves you out of pocket!

To make you feel better my daily slag got hit while I was parked outside a cafe last week!

Oh I raged about the door at the time! But when I hit the wall the blow was softened (no pun intended!) by the fact it had to go to the bodyshop anyway for the door and that the diffuser was going black anyway, so the bumper scuff is essentially getting fixed for free if I look at it that way (and I do as it helps!)!

Sadly I don't have a daily slag at the moment, I'm not allowed one until we have a drive apparently (was running 4 cars at one point when we had loads of parking, that was fun!).

The Bumblebeast shall return to her full glory next week!

Sorry to hear about your double bad luck.

Do you really want to paint the diffuser gloss black?  Could be a nightmare for stone chips

Just it looks so out of place as the only grey on the yellow/black car. The existing seems to be doing ok for chips (unlike the front splitter!).

Existing is just grey plastic though surely?

Not sure, it has a kind of mottled effect that looks like it's been painted. But then where the scrape is its grey underneath so guess you are right.
We shall see how it goes, could always get it re sprayed and then covered with 3M if chips get to be really bad.

noooooo!

You've bumblebust it!

This is one of my fave cars. Please take better care of it!

Brought back a memory of my reversing my very first car into a concrete lamp post, with the mother-in-law-to-be nipping my head the whole time.
Needless to say it was her fault

Bumblebust - love it (also loving that my phone now tries to auto correct that to Bumblebeast!)

Thanks for the kind comments, I will take better care of it from now on, I promise!

Naturally it's always someone else's fault, goes without saying

Ouch!

Wise to choose a good paint shop as Imola is known to be a pig to colour match.

It's Vegas Yellow, new/exclusive colour for S1 only. Bit more orange in it than Imola. It's not metallic so I'm hoping it will be easy to match/blend.

Sorry to hear of the damage , deffinatley get the defuser painted if preped right should be no worse than any other panel thats painted ,keep smiling

All fixed

Very pleased, I genuinely can't find any trace that a repair has been done, and the diffuser looks 10 times better!

And they gave it a full wash and polish as part of the service, which is very appreciated

It's because of your car that [even though I can't afford one] I've been idolising them on Autotrader.

Glad you got it fixed up and looking even nicer.

Haha - thanks!

I'll try and let you know next time I'm in London and you can idolise it first hand if you want

Thanks mate. That'll be very much appreciated. Although, I did realise that [thankfully] these do not come in any form of auto - and an auto is what I want. Wish-fulfilment and skint dilemma sorted

these have grown on me rather alot, do they offer them with a colour coded roof?

Yes mate. The contrast roof is optional.
