Fault code reading

As a prospective new c5 RS6 owner in the coming weeks can anyone point me in the right direction of a fault code reader i can buy which will help me get to the bottom of some upcoming problems before i take her to the garage? hahahaha

The cheap generic obd code readers off eBay will only read the engines on these cars.
You need proper vagcom for these as the other 30 odd ecu's could have faults! You especially need to read the box ecu on these cars.

A proper VAGCOM/VCDS cable from RossTech (buy it from their UK distributer here) may look expensive initially (usually 270) but you can sell it for virtually the same price when you no longer have a VAG car so effectively it'll "cost" you very little but save you lots of money from Audi, who charge 60+ to scan for codes in my experience.

I don't mind paying that if it's going to save me 60 a go at Audi, will pay for itself after a few years i reckon.

Thanks i will look into that.

LOL'd

It will pay for itself within 3-6 months . Every time you get a light on, or something not working , you will plug the cable in and sort it yourself
