FTM transmission

Hey guys,

Searched the forum and tried to google it aswell, but didn't come up with much besides some polish audi forum topic and a russian one. My B5 currently is running a DQT transmission that has completely given up on me and I am now looking for a replacement.
Is FTM transmission a fit? I could get one in good condition and at a good price but I cannot figure out if it will fit the car.
Any help is appreciated. And if it fits and there is some other reason I should not go with it, please do let me know.
Thanks for  your help.

FTM is from a 2.5 tdi

Thanks for your response, but I am aware of that and that's not quite what I asked
DQT is also a diesel box and used on more than one occasion with not much effort. My question is if I can get the FTM and use it with no fitment or other issues.

I'll just answer my own question for future reference for others who might end up with the same quesion. Seems like I need to find a B5 or C5 01E:

"The B6 01E uses different shifter, a different mounting, and different front outputs, and some of the rear outputs were also different, so it won't be a "Drop in"

people have fitted B6 3.0 01E's to S4's so i doubt the box mechanically changed from B5 to B6.

The shifter will be different, but just use the one you have from your B5.

The front output flanges simply unbolt and can be swapped over if they are different.

Oh, so I can basically just use the box with not too much fab work and will not need to buy any other parts, correct? I'm currently running a DQT.
Any idea if the FTM has a wide or narrow 1st?

Don't different transmissions have different final drives? Meaning you'll have to run the rear diff for that transmission for it to run properly?

yap, FTM is 3.89, S4 is 4.11

I believe all the boxes from B5 onwards have the "wide" first. Narrow first gear was something that existed on earlier 01E's used on the S2 etc.
