Gates powergrip timing belts

Hi all
Buying an S4 tomorrow and the timing belt is overdue. Obviously thats the first thing on the "to do" list.
My question is has anyone used a Gates powergrip cambelt. Ive seen them on big power jap motors usually come in blue. Is it worth the money or shall i just get genuine audi parts.
Also anyone recommend any other jobs to do while ive got the front end off. Im going to do the cam seals, front crank seal, Water pump and thermostat too And changing any parts that need attention

Thanks in advance

Gates belts are oem, at least to some vag cars I'm sure in the past. I'd fit a gates kit every day of the week no hassle pal, I've got an skf kit for mine happy with that also.

Just get all the bits from Jason  at all Germanparts. I fitted a DayCo kit to mine recently and upon removing the belt on there it was DayCo with audi part number's.  Gates,Skf and Continental are good too. As said speak to Jason . Top bloke and Top advice .

Agree with the comments. A dayco belt kit usually comes with the Ina rollers so nigh on a genuine kit.

The blue/purple belts are really hard to come by in the uk. Just seen a bit 'gimmicky' to me. I think they might contain slightly more of a certain material or element that makes up the belt. But it's just a colour that's buried under covers and plastic. No need imo.

I've used a so called blue "racing" timing belt from gates and due to the material
it's made from, it makes a horrible squeaking noise in the first 5-10 minutes until
it heats up. It is really horrible.

The "solution" was to put freaking baby powder on the belt which made the chirping
go away for a while but then it comes back after a while.

I would never do it again.

As for the belt you can basically buy anything, gates, contitech, dayco, they are all good. I am big fan of the Contitech timing belt kits.

The CT920K2 kit for our cars contains everything except for the water pump, which I always replace with an OEM unit.
