Headlight Issue - Sidelight has melted

My side light bulb appears to have melted into the mounting on the p/s headlight of my S4.

Does anyone know if this can be repaired, or if a replacement headlight would be required? Headlight still functions normally, obviously the side light isn't working.

Cheers in advance

That's going to be annoying come mot time.  So its not the bulb that has melted, its the bulb holder that has melted?  So its effectively glued itself into the back of the headlight unit itself?

The headlights come out fairly easily on the B6 (far far easier than the B7) so possibly worth trying to heat and sacrifice the bulb holder (and the wiring to the bulb holder) in order to 'save' the headlight?  Should be easy enough cut the wiring and solder a new side light bulb holder.

If you haven't already, definitely swap to led sides whilst you are in there

Thank you for the reply Ian. Yes, appears the bulb holder has melted! I've got it going into an auto-electrician tomorrow, so will let you know how I get on!

Well, my local trusted auto electrician managed to repair the headlight for me. Bit of a pain in the arse he said, but the bulb had melted itself into the holder.

Cost me 105 - 2 hours labour he charged, seem fair? In any case, I'm happy, used units are hard to come by, and seem to be around 200!
