Honda boys are laying the gauntlet down!

Hello to all the anti lagging flat shifting buddies out there. The V-tech chavs are calling us out for a showdown at Santa pod. Who here is willing to show them a thing or two? The confirmed date is October 10th.
dhali

Send a couple of the mrc c6 rs6 s down there
monkeyrs6

Just dont send any noggy rs,s as they will never get there Tim

A V-tech showdown won't even tempt a Noggy owner out of bed Tim.

Waste of fuel ffs

jasongtr

what is the point, surely the whole idea of owning an Audi is we have grown up a bit and don't feel the need to prove anything, and lets face it Hondas are crap and would not have a chance really - especially if it rains

Exactly this ^^^^^^ The necessity is not even there.
An S/RS commands respect whereas the Honda still needs to prove itself....

Surely FWD cars are limited by physics ?

As is the mental power of the people that own them! Hence the proposition. I mean seriously.
ruxy

I wouldn't say it would be a complete walkover, a friend has a turbo charged integra dc5 and although I've never had the pleasure of a ride yet, by all accounts its fairly lairy and catches a few people out.
Not that I'd ever own one
RubanS4

Turbocharged civics are doing 9/10s 1/4 mile at pod

True last time I wasted fuel with a v-tec I was in 6th gear at .5bar whilst the v-tec was screaming and smoking
Zildjian

I came up against the old Civic from the 90's in my M5,......and could only just squeeze past it to 120 units per hour.

It had a 2004 Civic Type-R lump in it, with about 230bhp, but in a car that light, it was enough for me to struggle with 400bhp.
Zildjian

I'd still love an S2000 like Jimbo's missus has.
Plumb50

I thought that would be the response from most people. But the thing is that there are some serious Honda junk going and would put up a rather interesting race. Would you gents not even go for a laugh? Would be good to see there faces.
jasongtr

sorry but I wont be risking my drivetrain to wipe a smile of the face of some Honda driving numbnut
torque2me

Haha i love the banter, and how people think if they have 2 turbos and 400bhp then they must have a quicker car than that little 2.0 litre vtec. Fact is they are quicker than people think.
I owned a 97' with a 2.0 engine from a crv and on track it would eat scoobies and stick with evos. 1/4 mile in 13 flat and that only had 210bhp!!
Im also guessing one of the cars that will be there is my mates 95' with a stock internal n/a type r engine pushing 263bhp and that run a 12.3 last month.
Plus cpl racing, tdi north and garage 786 all have 9&10 second cars.
So yeah send the rs6's!! Haha
Challice

Might also be the fact people don't want to listen to "v-tec just kicked in" noise all day.

Sure plenty will go but most don't feel the need to prove our cars are faster plus how many of those 10sec cars have full interiors?

And standard wheels with road tyres etc.

It's horses for courses eh.
"My full drag spec civic with a different engine and turbo will beat your basically remapped road car etc"

Snoreingheck.
torque2me

I agree with you both. Although my point was not that its a rebuilt engine vs and remapped car. Just a 400+bhp car vs a 200bhp car. Comparing an rs4 to a civic type-r is just rediculous. So yeah Most of the 9 sec civics are full bred drag cars. And dont get me wrong. I love my s4, to me theres not another car that can match it for fun, spec, size, price all together. But hands down my civic was way more fun to drive.
stuartx

Really? Who cares?

Hmmmm let me think about this now, what would I rather drive every day???

Hmmmmm its a tough one indeed, an Audi orrrrrrr a Honda?

Hmmmmm i'm not sure?

Hmmmmmmm
Challice

I chose Honda...

NOT
torque2me

Oh sorry guys. I forgot i was on an Audi forum and im not allowed to appreciate other cars!

My bad.
Noggymike

I suppose like you mentioned previously, mega tuned, fully stripped Honda v's stock B5 isn't a fair comparison, or reverse situation etc.

It's either all out, gloves off and there ain't no rules or

don't bother.
McTavish

I've had a few run ins with civics in my old Corrado VR6, no contest. Civic never handles as well as my old Corrado so had them every time. But I think in a straight, it'll be a different matter 😓
St Inky

So it starts off as "slow Honda, what a waste of time" then changes to "still just a Honda piece of crap" once you realise you might actually get spanked?

Lets not forget, most of us are driving 15-year old cars, so let's not get above ourselves with the badge snobbery... Fact is that some of their Hondas are newer, quicker and probably more reliable...

Put up or shut up. And I don't even like Honda.
Plumb50

It's not an all out war just a bit of friendly fun. Fastest time gets the bragging rights. No evil about it. All I wanted to know is who is up for going.
bboy82

I'm game for a laugh!

Count me in bud.

Plumb50

Good man. Suzi shall go to the ball. And fly the VAG. Flag proud.
bboy82

I reckon she'd  still put down a respectable time, despite being towed on the works flatbed trailer behind my van!

Appreciate what you want buddy, just saying if you had the choice you would take the Audi all day long, not saying Hondas are bad cars at all.

Well thats obvious as i did choose the audi and thats why im on this forum and not a honda one!!!

People just make me laugh with badge snobbery.
ian52

I think if we all just wanted a fast car we wouldn't have bought an Audi but if you want a fast, well built comfy practical car that won't rot from underneath you there is a fair chance you would. Hence we are here. I had a few turbo jap cars and they were great but just were not such a nice place to sit every day.
torque2me

How and why did we end up here!
The post was about 1/4 mile now 10 year ownership. All i said was theres some fast hondas running the strip so dont think we would walk them.
ian52

i am in no doubt that there is plenty civics out there that could hump me with far less bhp on the 1/4 but I haven't modified my car to be a drag car and most people here haven't either whereas some of these high bhp civics have just to be fast down the strip. If they went to v-max it would be a different story. But I hear what your saying there will be a few cars on here that will show them how it's done. Not me though.

Banter!
scoobydood

Wow things sure have changed since I left the forum. I did not expect to see this kind of hostility. There was a day... A few years back..... When we appreciated all fast cars and were always game for a bit of quarter mile action. Or maybe I just made that up 😄

My guess is that the Honda boys who turn up will spank the Audi crew - but it should still be good humour.

Sadly I now drive a diesel BMW but if I still had the old s4 I would be there. And if really lucky would run mid to high 12s which would be good enough for some of the Hondas but nowhere near quick enough for the serious ones.
Challice

Only a bit of banter
buzzard

Would we really get that much of a slapping?????
ruxy

On a short sprint I would think so.
buzzard

We need to up our game then.......

Where do you buy that special fuel that makes the v-tec kick in....lol

You need to retrim your front seats in red and do a fist pump too!
Challice

Homebase stock it, in the isle next to the lawnmowers...
kmm

I had a Honda prelude L reg back in 1996. It was quite a nice car and it was far better than an noggy rs4 . I sold it and bought a scooby.
To far for me to travel and I don't do fast starts to be kind on my gearbox. The rs's are very strong on the high end stuff. Sit at 80 and when you floor it, there isn't too much will stay with you. It would be interesting to see.
