how easy to tune ? ur s4 2.2 i5

my mate has a ur s4

it is mapped and running standard hardware minus samco hoses, a silly dump valve (which needs to be changed) a k&n airfilter a after market exhaust

what would NEED to be changed to get say 310 hp out of it ?

just manifold and turbo? or would it need a full on approach such as, intercooler, fuel pump, injectors etc

i know it will need to be remapped

thanks
Costash

You  gonna need the following: bigger turbo than stock, bigger injectors, new fuel pump and a remap, or something generic to match the spec. Over 350hp is good to change the intercooler for a bigger one and  3'' downpipe . That's all if I am right.

My brother in law has a UrS6 with a single pipe from turbo back exhaust and a homefry chipped ecu running about 290bhp,standard engine otherwise , mine is bog standard with a nothelle chipped ecu and have 270bhp, so to get to 300 bhp won't take much

for 310 your need RS2 bits , turbo , maff , injectors , out let manerfold , ecu , if you get a chiped RS2 ecu your be looking at 380bhp

RS2 turbo, RS2 manifold, RS2 injectors, bigger ic (or double originals) and a custom chip to your old Ecu.  No need to swap the maf. Original fuel pump is enough if its in a good condition, would be safer to change it though

This will get you up to 370hp with all else stock, going to do this to my Urs4 also. Got the RS2 parts, but alot more to be done also

Hey fellas,

Any update on this topic?

After a long awaited come back (some might even say procrastination!!!) I am very near to getting my 1994 Racing Green Audi 100 S4 back on the streets of London town. I have not made any significant changes, AS YET!

Having read this thread though, I am as keen as ever to take things to the next step and the idea of 350+ horses under the hood does excite me some…

As my good old mate, who posted this original question mentioned, my S4 is pretty standard with just a few gimmicky additions (which is how I got her)so I’m pretty much starting from scratch I’d say .
I’ll have her back on the ramp the middle of next week and will take a more detailed view of things and what else needs to be done as she has been stationary for  little whiles now.
Engine starts first time, on the money and she still purrs like a kitten…lol

So, from what I can gather, to take things to the next level I would need to get what sounds almost like an RS2 makeover..?

Any ideas on cost\ source parts?

Check on S2forum,you can get what you need from over there.

imo

garret gtx28r turbo with custom oil lines
wagner manifold
generic fmic
044 bosch fuel pump
injectors around 20% bigger than oem
rs2 spark plugs
decatted downpipe and exhaust (you already have this i believe)
mrc remap

unsure if oem clutch is good for this sort of power though (350 bhp / 380lb ft - only estimates !!)

Just a few notes to colicabcadam:s post.

I bet that the Garrett is much more efficiant and spools earlyer than RS2 KKK, no doubt about that (no personal experience but the KKK is allready 20 yo desing ).
But if your looking for a quick and easy HP out of the engine its RS2 turbo your looking for. Mainly as it fits straight away to original exhaust manifold, DP, oil and boost lines. Original exhaust isin't a problem either, but don't we all want to hear more of that 5-cylinder sound?

So no modification needed, exept for intercooler. But i would most surely swap the exhaust manifold to atleast for RS2 one (or replica) as the original manifold is quite weirdly designed and not the best flowing one at all, but i've seen even worse homemade ones

Look where the 1st. and 5th. cylinder tubes go? The lower one is AAN original, upper is from Rs2.

I think the clutch will hold the power of ~350 easily if its in a good shape, also possible to map the boost charts so that it won't give killer torque at low rpm's.

I just hope i get some money raised to get all missing parts to my Urs4 so i could get it back on the road again! Been sitting in the garage for a year now
