Just joined the B8 S4 avant club! Couple of questions

Hi all

I have been seriously hankering for a B8 S4 avant since I saw a Estoril blue S4 avant in the flesh in 2014 and have finally pulled the trigger on one. It has an interesting history (gulp!): stolen recovered when nearly new and then stored.  Martin at Unit 20 has carried out  a full inspection and given it the thumbs up and confirmed the exceptionally low recorded mileage looks spot on. I am still quite nervous but it was cheap and has done less than 2000 miles so hopefully all will be well. The paln will be to keep it for 5+ years.

I have not taken delivery yet but will post pics up when I do.

So I have a few initial questions which Id be grateful for any steers on:

The car currently has 18's on it. I really like the peeler alloys (pq6). If I looked for a set  of these in 19's what technical info do I need to make sure I get  the right ones? Also should I make sure they are genuine Audi only?
Has anyone gone from 18's to 19;s and would care to comment re ride quality differences and also tyre noise at speed?

Can anyone advise re  how best to go about retrofitting DAB and also MMI 3G Plus? I would not be confident to do it myself so would be grateful for any recommendations re companies etc that do it. The MMI is probably not worth it, especially when its mainly the acres of empty plastic around the gear-stick that makes me hanker for the MMI, but anyway..

Its going to need a bloody good paint correction detail, can ayone recommend a good detailer in Herts?

What do people tend to do re OBD theft protection?

Cheers
xpower

Welcome & congrats on your purchase.

IMO http://autowatch.co.uk/products/a...obiliser-systems/68-ghost-product is the best OBD protection you will find

Saw that one advertised. looked a good one! I have gone from 18-19's and haven't really noticed any difference!
On the alloy front. make sure you get the 66.6 centre bore wheels as a lot of Audi's are still 57.1 cb

I've just put my original 18s back on to return the car to standard as its going up for sale. And I have to say, they look the nuts on 19s but it rides more comfortably on 18s for the Uk's 3rd world roads lol. Mine are OEM double spokes, not peelers, though they do finish the car off so much better than the 18s.

Hiya

For OEM 19" S4 peelers you want part number 8k0601025ak which is an 8.5x19" ET43

Don't get 8t0 which are S5 fitment and 9x19 with ET43 as they'll probably stick out too far.

All specs should be on the inside of the spokes of the wheels so any seller should be able to find them

Worth looking on German ebay

The reason A5 S5 19s stick out massively is that they are ET32 - I agree definitely best avoided (imo)

Yep, ET32 is right - user error on my part lol

I had S5 19's on my saloon with an ET32 and they were fine, they just bring the tyre out to the edge of the wheel arch but no rubbing issues.
As for OBD security, my car was also a stolen recovered so I spliced an in-line plug in-between the OBD socket and the harness so the OBD port was then removable.

Also running S5 alloys, but only 8m5 wide ones! no rubbing, nice fit!

Remove OBD socket and put it in a steel box like this........
