Just ordered an RS3

Hello first post just to ask a few questions..... I think I've just ordered an RS3...... I say "think" because its a lease deal with my company car supplier and I have just completed the paperwork on the order..... however I've just read (here on the forum) that the RS3 is already sold out.

Does anyone know if thats true for the UK as of 21st Feb?

I now think my joy at getting a great lease deal on an RS3 is going to be very short lived!

Knowing how the company car team operate I'll have a two week nervous wait before they turn around and say "Sorry you can't have an RS3 afterall!".

Congrats !

Jalous here

Depends on whether your lease supplier has put some orders in specutively in the hope they can lease them

If they've not, I doubt there are any spare slots from the initial 500

I doubt they have any speculative orders but they do deal direct with Audi Corporate and "claim" to have "priority access" to the latest cars..... when you say the initial 500 slots does that imply that there will be more slots to follow?

I don't need the car until September so I can wait..... thats when my existing lease car (E93 M3) goes back.
Wads

I'm still waiting to hear back from Audi but I've been searching the interweb regarding availability and the only place I can see anything talking about the RS3 being sold out was on Autocar but I think they were actually talking about the Focus RS500 being sold out..... aka_dk is this where you heard about the RS3 selling out?

http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/254248/

"As we write today, the RS3 looks to have the title in its grasp. The hot Audi is just a handful of horsepower and lb ft of torque behind the 345bhp Ford Focus RS500, but the limited-run of 500 cars is sold out. The same goes for the 395bhp Cosworth Impreza, which is restricted to 75 examples."

sorry bit confused now.... on Sunday in the 1M Coupe or RS3 thread you said that the RS3 had sold out so figured you'd know if that was true or not?
aka_dk

im only going on what i was told
Nudenut

Sold out or not doesn't mean you won't get lease on one Wads, fingers crossed!
doodlebug

I'd be amazed if these are found outside of the dealer network.  This is a full margin car for Audi and the dealers aren't having issues selling them.  I suspect that the only change would be a speculative early order by the lease company.
Wads

Well Audi confirmed that they can offer me the RS3 BUT the lease company screwed up the costs..... my original order was a 2 year lease at £632/month...... the best they can do now is a 3 year deal at £757 a month so I'm now torn as to whether to go ahead or not!

Does anyone have any experience with leasing Audis to know if that's a reasonable figure?...... they have given the value at 3 years as £21k, the list price is £41k on the road, the discounted price is £38,400.

The monthly lease of £757 includes everything except fuel ie, servicing, road tax, tyres and insurance are covered.

Any advice? ie. does the residual value sound reasonable?

£757 a month...out your own wage???or have I missed something??

Yes and no..... £757 is the monthly payment but I get a £300 contribution towards that cost so its "only" £457 out of pocket excluding fuel.

As a comparison BMW quoted £699 a month to finance a 135i excluding service, tax tyres, insurance etc.
doodlebug

Any deposit?  What's the mileage allowance?

Seems dear to me, especially given the discount.  Is it a pre-ordered car?
Wads

Yes £5k deposit but the company cover that so no cost to me and it's a factory order to my spec September delivery.

A BMW 335i cab on the same lease scheme is £10 more.

I have to admit I've lost track of insurance costs as I have been covered under the company policy for the last 9 years..... Any ideas what an RS3 would cost to cover...... 43 yr old in Kingston on Thames full no claims (company can provide a letter for the NCD).
doodlebug

5k deposit aswell!  Do they want a kidney too?  Personally, I wouldn't pay it.

Take September with a pinch of salt, no confirmation of build dates until March, the dealer should be setting expectations on this basis.  I'd be wanting to see the order form from the dealer too.

No idea on the insurance, won't be cheap given the proximity to London.
AliGod78

Welcome. Can only say what I'd do, and to me it sounds like your employer is taking care of you quite well with what they're offering. I'd go for it. Do you get a choice of any extras, or colours?

ahh right ok, not bad IMO. COnsidering what that £457.00 covers you for Id say cool and your company is taking care of the 5k deposit too     ...

You obviously have a well paid job and your comfortable with it so why not!

Mate of mine pays this for a freelander and he only got a contribution towards the 4.5k deposit...he must be Barmy! Your company look after you.

September though....that would do my head in.lol

Grizz?
Wads

Thanks for the replies...... still can't decide what to do as the new lease rate is taking the piss somewhat..... the depreciation is "only" £17500 yet the costs over 3 years add up to an extra £10k..... ok that covers finance cost, and everything else excluding fuel but even so I think they are adding an extra £3-4k on top. Now wondering about a nearly new S4 Cab instead to keep the wife happy...... I have an RS5 on loan the 2nd week of March but thats more for fun than anything else as the lease rates on those are stupidly high (£1200/month).

I'd be looking to do a regular lease purchase and have the choice at the end of the three years.  You're putting a lot of cash in, I'd expect to have ownership with a small baloon payment.

The best alternative lease I found was a very similar monthly cost BUT that didn't include anything else ie. servicing tyres etc.

Cab's are fun, and sound nice too. Was topless myself today, briefly...

Found out Audi UK are pushing the factory for increased allocation ... If that is not forthcoming then they will have to formerly announce they are sold out
Wads

Well the RS3 is off I can't justify the silly leasing rates so I'm now looking for a good used B7 S4 Cab..... trouble is the 6 speed manual seems to be as rare as hens teeth.

I popped into Walton Audi today and enquired about the RS3 (and used S4s) and they were quite happy to sell me an RS and said as of today there are still 75 order slots left from the original 500 allocated to the UK so if anyone still wants one get in there soon!
malRS3

Hi Guys

I just collected my new RS3 last Friday, anyone else managed to get their hands on one?

Plenty about, after all that "sold out" nonsense!
aka_dk

they are sold out in the respect that you can no longer factory order one

but not difficult to get a physical car
tee-bee

Ordered a RS3 delivery in Jan 2012

Hey peeps,

Paid a deposit yesterday for a RS3 with Bucket Seats to be delivered in Dec/Jan.

Looking forward to it

Those still interested, my dealer has 2 physical Rs3 available.. and a slot available for those interested in a 'build to order'.

Take care

Still some build slots available from cancellations and Audi allocation I was told yesterday matey?!

Wish they’d knock it on the head and start on the Quattro Concept !!
tee-bee

There are plenty of RS3s available in the south.. if you look hard enough.

Did any of you manage to get bit of a discount?
S4Player

There's defo plenty I've just been offered one for feb/march

S4Player

Yup just shy of 4k discount
Rasss-4

Ive actually seen one on the road finally....and I was pretty disapointed to be honest. I was expecting some roided up low down beast.

...looked like a New version of an S3
Felt well let down. Ill tell the mrs not to get me one for Xmas now.
KiwiRS4

Likewise, I'm #117 in the pecking order, still waiting for confirmation they're going to build it

Hi all,

I've just double checked my RS3 invoice order and noted the following charges:

RFL & FRF at £635

I'm trying to work out the cost for the above?

RFL as in (road fund license/road tax) which works out at £580 (does that include the show room tax & annual road tax?)

FRF as in (first reg. fee) should be £55.

Then assumption is that in the following year, I need only pay £250 as the RS3 falls in Band K?

Thanks

I like the RS3 for the exact reason is that it's understated.  However, they could have retained that and still given it a bit more arch to keep the RS theme going a bit.  It does have wider arches on the front though doesn't it?

If I asked my mrs if I could get another car, even if buying it myself, she'd tell me to f*ck off and find a divorce lawyer!!

 On second thoughts!

Should be they are at status 20 so the build slot can't be modified
doodlebug

There are cancelled orders about, so fixed slots as above, but if no build date is specified then the spec can be changed.

Status 20 means it has a build date and the build is locked as with any Audi you can change it but it will push the date on, but as the RS3 has a production run on a specific date you can't change any pre specified spec
