My Imola TTE600 project

Hi, I would like to open new thread under project. Can moderator move this thread there?

hi guys. First sorry for my English, I'm language anti talent.


Let me show you mine Imola. Have it 6 years now, made 50.000km, now it is second car, for sundays. First tuning was RS4 hybrid turbos, than git RS6 hybrid turbos, made remap, 630cc injectors.....

Last year we put engine out to rebuild heads. They had few crack, compressions was low, so I decided to go with 2.8 heads, 2.8 cams.... also we installed new piston rings, all bearings ...



heads: (now i would stay on rs4 heads)


- also got new clutch with flywheel
100 eur upgrade:

- bigger custom intercoolers
Few months ago I got oil leak from turbos. Found 3dcl of oil in intercooler. I sent them to rebuild to local turbo mechanic. After installation I made only 200km with rebuilded turbos, and i got oil leak and smoke back.
Than I bought one RS& turbos from one guy in Germany, and install them. They are on car now, but I made only 200km for now, as Im using business car.

I didn't know what to do with old RS6 turbos, and after 14 day decided to send them to TTE on rebuild.
so what I want to do now:
- installing new turbos
- new 89mm exhaust with flap control
- new knocking sensors

I sent my old turbos in very bad condition, and got those beautifll turbos back, I was shocked little.

exhaust is finished. It is 2x76mm (3) downpipes to single 85mm pipe, and on the end muffler goes in two 76mm pipes.




but, for now it is little too loud, and I bought Capristo 76mm valve:


I had standard exhaust before on RS6 turbos(bigger wheels) and performance was bad. I got full boost at 4000 rpm. Now, with that exhaust I have full boost at 3600 rpm.  

- Next step is installing remote valve control.

And after that is plan to install TTE turbos.

What boost is it at 3600rpm? That is really good for RS6 turbo.
What do you expect spool and boost wise from TTEs?

Amazing exhaust, how do the Capristo valves work by vacuum??

Exhaust is finished for now, also valve is welded. Next step is installing remote control for valve.

Will the valve make any difference to the noise there? I was expecting you were going to run a separate pipe through another silencer.

I thought this too. Every set up I've seen has like a take off or bypass pipe.

Hmm shouldn't that valve be on a seperate pipe? all it does there is increase backpressure in the box?

That valve is only for slow drive, or for my wife. Now it is connected on vacum, and it opens at above 0 bar. Plan is to have wireless control.

Well, first i didn't plan a valve, but car was too loud, and that is fastest solution. I wont push it with closed valve.

Pipe is going from 85m in two pipes 76mm in muffler. So, 76mm is enough for sloooooooow drive.

Liking the valve a lot :thumb:so is it good at reducing the drone at low cruising speed? And what sort of control do you have over it ?

Switch 1-2 eur
Non return acuum valve 10-15eur
Vacuum ventil (like n75) 30eur

And little hoses and little wires. That is all, and it is working perfect.

Now next step is installing turbos.

What is the difference in loudness with the switch activated? Would love to think a simple setup like this could cure the drone of a dual system (obviously would need to let the pipes merge 'upstream'!).

In my case, difference is huge. I will make sound clip. And show installation, it is very simple.
Was looking for remote systems, and price was from 120eur to 500eur! Than I got vacuum valve for free (price is 20-30), and fixit with help of friend.

Can't really tell from the clip due to the background road noise, but if you say the difference is huge then excellent result.

Yeah there's a fair bit of background noise. There does seem to be difference at 10 seconds in, is that when the switch for valve control was activated?

I know English is not your 1st language, but could you explain how you've assembled all this and what control it provides?

I have been looking at valves to fit and understand the principal of the valve opening on 0psi or positive pressure, which vacuum point did you use for basic control? I would be looking for it to work in the basic form and then being able to override it open.
I would be very grateful for any advice or if anyone else would care to explain what's needed

well, let me try to explain. First you need bypass valve. I took it from Porsche, because got it for free, for RS3 is arround 30 eur, it is similar to this one. I installed it on the front, near ABS unit.



then here: pipes 1 goes to gas regulator pipe, on same as I have boos sensor.  Pipes 2 goes on exhaust valve


than I bought cheap non returning valve (3), to hold vacuum, when you have boos, and want to have silent car. 10-15 eur



pipes number 1 goes here:



pipes number 2 goes on exhaust valve


for closing or opening I have button here



so, If you want to have valve closed, you need vacuum, for opening, you have to release vacuum, that's why you need bypass valve.   If you want to have valve open when you get 0 bar pressure and above, than you don't need bypass valve, but that is unpractical, as it is really fast.

Forgot to say thanks for taking the time to explain, I got distracted after reading and got straight on ebay looking for parts

I think I understand what is happening, I have little understanding of how each vacuum line works. Am I right in thinking that because you have the boost gauge on with the fuel pressure regulator? does this mean the line goes from vacuum to boost pressure?
Ideally I would like my valve to work 2 ways.
1,  I would like to have it to remain closed until the pressure reaches either 0 psi or  5 psi if possible? Some valves appear to be adjustable so makes sense to have it closed longer.
2, just to have the valve bypassed from connection so it remains sprung open.

Would this be possible if I just removed the non return valve?

1. Valve is closed when it is under vacuum. So, if you want to open it at 0 psi, then you dont need nonreturning valve, also you dont need bypass valve.

2. If you want to open valve at 0psi, and also have possibility to open valve under vacuum (-psi), than you need just bypass valve.


I have nonreturning valbe, because i want to have valve closed until i get 0.5 to 1bar, if my girl drive the car, or for daily use. It is not so bad. But, system is pretty easy and logical.

2. map has max 1.4-1.45 bar
3. map has 1.9 -1.95 bar
