My Misano B5 RS Intro!!

Ok chaps, been on here a while, and having recentley sold my beloved S2 Avant and taking ownership of its replacement in July, i thought id post some pics and updates on progress iv made so far with the car

I'm the third owner, the previous being a good friend of mine who bought the car from Whetstone Audi when it was just 18 months old. Now in his late 60's he felt it was time to move it on as it just wasn't getting used, thats where i stepped in.

67k with full audi s/h to date it really has been a cherished example.

The first owner, a company director had it to QST for an mtm chip, milltek and shortshift, apart from that it had been kept stock...had been!!

So far i have cleaned the silver leather which i never thought i'd like, but now clean its actually grown on me.

Fully detailed the exterior and  corrected the already quite good painwork.

Liquid wrapped the grill surround.

Fitted a new header tank and porsche filler caps.

Fitted a set of DS2500’s up front

Had H&R springs fitted ,and really pleased with ride quality as when i  fitted these to my S2 it blooming destroyed it!!

Fitted some 10x19 VMR rims with 265/30/19 contis and 15mm spacers. These probabley wont be my final wheel coice but happy with them for now.

Previous Audis include a C4 S6 Avant,a B5 RS4 in black reg X437 AEN, wonder if its owned by anyone on here?? And my S2 Avant which i owned for 7yrs.

Here’s some pics:

Cleaned leather with ‘Gliptone’ leather cleaner
Armrest before/after

Drivers bolster before

Dirt lifting after applying Gliptone with nailbrush

Repaired drivers bolster with ‘Gliptone Scuff Master’ brilliant stuff!!!

All done, leather left with a nice matt factory finish after conditioning with ‘Gliptone Conditioner’

New header tank and filler caps, sorry oil cap upside down in pic!!!

My UR S6

B5 RS

My S2,miss it!!!

Thats all for now, will keep progress updated

Cheers Rob

Ey up John.
Looking very nice indeed. I still miss my S2 too, but the RS more than fills it's boots.
Wheels suit it well mate, looks well nice on the Misano.

What colour scuffmaster did you order and where from?

Jase..
stuartx

Welcome,

What stuff did you use on your seats?

Huh,  WTF?
What'd I write John for?

Rob.... Sorry bout that.

polishing_frenchman

Ay up Jase you coming to the meet next Saturday??
The colour is RS4 2001 V/L Grey from liquid leather .com, Gliptone make it,there only in Todmorden, West Yorks.

Stuartx- 'Gliptone' Leather cleaner and conditioner,it's all you'll ever need!!!

CliveH

Not really a welcome Rob as we already know each other and, as you say, you've been lurking for a while.

Beautiful example, looks stunning, and excellent work on the leather. I use the Gliptone products on my cars - expensive but does exactly what it says on the tin

I miss my S2 too (and B5...)
rallye16vdude

wow your red rs is
guymcc

Fantastic phots mate!  What a difference in the seats!  And the wheels look superb!  Nice dish on them, think they may be the same wheels as Kmm has on his Misano!  Although his are 18's.  and the black grill surround looks really good too!  Kinda mean!

Cracking motor!
S4BiT

Superb work on the seats!
Jamo

Lovely RS4!! why do I know that S2??? looks very familiar.

It's only been a week and I miss my S2 already but time goes on

Shows how out of things I am at the minute Rob. Didn't know there was a meet next week at the Sunn Inn. Just had a look in the meets section.
I'm working next weekend, but could get away for noon, then drive down.
I'll see what's what on Tuesday. Be good to catch up with the usual suspects.
You going Clive?

Thanks for the colour confirm. I've used gliptone cleaner and the conditioner for ages, kept the cream leather in the S2 in good order. Also use it in the RS on the silver leather and although the condition is good, I have a bit of that cracking going on in the drivers bolster too.
Have just ordered the 65ml kit

Hopefully catch up next weekend and get to see this beauty
Reggieroo

Now that's a nice RS & the wheels really suit it, really nice! I could do with some of that scuff master for my sliver leather in the S6.
RoadToad

Looks like a lovely example

I thought the same about silver leather when I bought mine, but now I actually prefer it! It's come up really well with the Glyptone
quattrokid

welcome to misano RS4 ownership     lovely example you have there, as Guy says, looks very similar if not the same rims as Kmm

@ Jas11n     not remembering your friends name!!

I assume your a southern member then judging by the sunny phots
polishing_frenchman

Thanks for the kind comments guys
I must admit cleaning the seats with such great results was highly satisfying!

Kmm's wheels are 3sdm rims, quite similar with the dish, very nearly bought some before finding these

quattrokidd I'm from Yorkshire, suppose that is south to you guys

Thats superb, was the kit and dye easy to use?  I'd be tempted to try that on mine as long as its not to complex and no risk of f**king it up!!
polishing_frenchman

Seriousley mate its piece of p**s, instructions come with it too, just make sure you get the cleaner gel too which thoroughly cleans and primes the leather so it takes the dye properly
Alps

Damn great work on the car mate.

Those seats didnt half buff up well. And those wheels and suspension combo look perfect on the car.
polishing_frenchman

Cheers mate, hoping the springs will settle a bit yet,on the rear especially!

Wow, looks fantastic! So those are the BMW fitment wheels in ET25 fitted with adapters?
polishing_frenchman

They are 5x112 ET 35 with 15mm spacer to give the stock ET 20

Will do   there's a few RS owners near you, I pm them when we're in Leeds so ill cc you in
ruxy

Wow! Those results with the interior are amazing, I'm in the market for something for my black interior. It's not scuffed or damaged as such, I'd just like to try and get a bit of colour back in to it. It's only light fading but I'd like to catch it in its early stages. Do gliptone have a product for what I'm after or would the scuff master work just as well? I am genuinely stumped for words as I thought yours looked beyond the repair you've achieved
kmm

Welcome to the forum..... yes my alloys are 3SDM which look very similar to the untrained eye. Lovely deep dish
I also have the light interior which is what i wanted when i was looking for an RS. I had a light interior in my S4 which i cleaned & dyed and like you, the results amazed me. I wasn't too sure about using a very light sand paper to get rid of some of the deep scratches, but it came up a treat.

My RS isn't too bad although i may give the Gliptone products a go. Lovely car!!
dubbed_up_daz

Nice work on the seats, car looks fantastic too

Have you got the product reference or a colour reference for the Silver leather? I'm trying to do my seats, based on these results, but I can't seem to trace a scuff master kit in the right colour.

Love the 3sdm rims, suit the bulbous arches to a t and still have a oem look
ShaunS3

Rob, i can't believe you sold the S2, everyone over on ASN has been wondering where you had got to and wether you had sold the S2 ha

Still....that RS4 is sweet! I need to see it in the flesh.

Are there alot of Yorkshire meets on here do you know? Thinking of inviting some of you to my next Yorkshire meet over on ASN if any of you lads fancy a collaboration meet?

Shaun.
polishing_frenchman

Thought id take advantage of a friend with a decent camera and the nice weather yesterday  to get some pics of the RS with its  new shoes ,old ones now been modeled on Jase's Avus

They are BBS LM R reps,9.5x19 all round with conti 265/30/19 rubber.
With H&R spacers im running a nice beefy ET15 rear/ET10 front, with no rubbing

Hope you like
Cheers Rob

Very nice! I want your wheels on my misano and I want mine to look as clean as that! Like the black trim on the grill too.

A May Zing!!!!!!! Looks superb!  Liking the grill and smoked lenses!
quattrokid

ditto about the smoked lenses!!

Looks stunning
polishing_frenchman

Cheers fellas, glad your liking her
The stuff on the lights is 'Lamin X' lense protection
It is a thick high quality film that is great to use and mould when warmed with a hair dryer. I used it on my S2 also. It comes in 4/5 colours ,mine is gun smoked, Lowrider has used the light tint on his Jap3 RS, doesn't effect light efficiency either ,especially with xenons
Google it , to find out more

Cheers Rob
Rasss-4

Ahhh man that looks shit hot. Seeing this really makes me miss mine again. LaminX is great stuff, easy to work with as well. Perfect Mr Frenchman

polishing_frenchman

stuartx wrote:

23 1/2 "x 12"
K9ng

That does make the front end look nice and mean - Think I will give it a go on my Misano    Can I just ask what you used to on the front grille surround.

Regards
polishing_frenchman

It's 'Liquid 'Car Wrap' get it on eBay
Great stuff ,and it's none permenant should you change your mind

Just got back from a 4 day break in Perthshire with the family.

Latest Changes

Got the LMR reps back on after painting.I did them a Honda Colour ‘carbon bronze pearl’ which is stunning in the sun and goes mint with red ,always loved this colour after painting a set of D2 S8’s in it for my old S2 . Sourced  some black roof bars and window trim, and got hold of some mirror covers which im gona try a couple of ideas on! Cant wait to say goodbye to Mr Ali !!
Never really happy with how it sat on the H&R springs so coilies next job, hopefully this misano will then be somewhere near  how i envisaged from day one,
Here’s a couple of pics from this eve

I like them Rob, but.....wtf are those things covering the wheel bolts? Is that shit cool? If so Marc will be all over those bad boys.
marc1

Look like shot gun cartridges and therefore cool for gangsta's and farmers.
C J

Shotgun shells by looks of it. Very 'scene'
polishing_frenchman

Don't mention  'scene' on here,  certain individuals can become almost overwhelmed by the mere thought of queuing up to get in Leeds's Warehouse back in the day, you know who you are
david1980

sorry to hear about your s2, who had it and what happened?

this car is looking good
polishing_frenchman

I was gutted about the S2 , I only learned of its fate when a friend spotted the turbo and EM I'd fitted, then exhaust ,brakes etc etc. I'd spent a fortune and so much time getting it  to the stage it left me, I had it 7yrs, the guy who bought it had it just over 12 months before an incident caused him to leave the road hit a hedge and bend the chassis  shit happens though, he was a genuine guy and appreciated the car he was getting

Wheels really suit it.

Black Optics

Well quite a productive weekend, set on with the next stage of black optic conversion, the roof bars....and what a freakin ball ache!!! But well worth it. Along the way i took a couple of pics without roof bars, i must admit i did like it.
Mirrors next, finish painting them tomorrow
No roof bars,very clean looking

Black bars on thank F**k

Does look good black optic'd!
Please tell me you've got some replacement plastic mirrors and not painting the ally ones!?!?!

Are they going body coloured like a proper black optic or are you opting for badman black?!

Cheers mate, can't believe the difference it's made.
I've painted a pair of mirrors Phantom black that I'm gonna try after seeing a pic of a Misano with black mirrors on another thread.
Wheel wise, well.... I do love the stock rims but I'm anchoring for some nice concave, thing is ,all the ones I like are forged and serious money
Tried a Bimoto rim Jimbo lent me, looked bang on as we all know they do,perfect for keeping the OE look too which I'm really leaning towards at the moment
will1981

Looks the business Rob, I prefer the OEM wheels too. F*cking love the pressed plates...

Must admit after seeing your previous car and this one I'm a bit disappointed with the bi moto wheel choice, I'm just not the biggest fan of the rim

Not set on them yet mate, just playing with options really, tried so many rims on my S2, but in the end the S8 Avus won hands down everytime reason being stock design with bigger diameter. I'm finding the same again with the b5,  4 different wheel choices down in 12 months and OE wins everytime

yeh ok Rob ADV

Good work Rob, it looks great.    I really like it with the stock wheels.  It looks subtly aggressive.  The wheels actually tie in nicely with the mirrors, but I think body coloured would work best and give you options on wheel choices.

I'm sure your come up with a better option.

And yes I still think that you can't beat the s8's on an s2 and especially your green s2 avant. Only downside is sourcing them and then the weight compared to some rims.

what was the hre that was mentioned?

True mate, the rear quarter glass has to come out to remove the piece that runs along the top of all the windows
Your best bet would be to have it wrapped as it can be done on the car, speak to Kent on here, he's done it on his WB build and knows someone in the area that are good.Your from Pudsey area if I remember?
Cheers Rob
b1ggsy

Really like this car, the colour is stunning!! I prefer the BBS reps you had on at the meet over the stock rims, I love a bit of dish!! I thought you said you wanted some Quantum44 wheels? You gone off of that idea?
1976ajax

Simply beautiful car, looks ace!!
Have you considered doing the new wheels in a darker finish to tie in with the rest of the car? I've just finished dechroming my B7 and thought the wheels looked a bit out of place with all of the silver/chrome bits gone so got them finished in anthracite.
