That's shite luck mate. Hope you get a nice payout. Shame they'll write the car off.
aidank1981

cant you come to an agreement? shame to write off a car for this??
Cmg-rob

I'll see what they say but it's not looking good 😔

Sadly looking like a cat c.
It's such a shame insurance companies never take into account rare motors unless it's a specialised policy.

I remember when I got my rs4 and online quotes valued it at 2,600 even though you can't buy one for less then 10k. Madness.
Cmg-rob

If it is written off I shall be buying it back and selling it, hopefully someone will take her on and get her back to former glory

Shite Rob

just shite

Surely you could get away with a paintless dent removal on the door and a replacement wing? Doesn't look bad at all.
Stuartmyles

Woman clipped my s4 when it was parked up, nice 800 cheque came through a couple of weeks later

If it's taken to the other insurers body shop then they will price new door, wing, door molding, mirror etc and sundries, then paint and cost of hire car....

I would definitely get a decent settlement buy it back and get it repaired with used parts. Job done.
ShivasRegal

Just take a payment from insurers 'in lieu' . Make sure she accepts liability. You will prob get a call from her insurance wanting to deal with whole matter if she is in fault.  Ask for a payment ' in lieu'. The car doesnt get categorised, you get sime cash to repair it and chalk it up to one of those things.
Stigs dad

Gutted for you . Hope you get a decent pay out and put her back  on the road.
Alps

Surely never a write-off! All you've got to do is prove to insurer that the car's not a normal A4 and prove value of it.

Good luck mate.

If you accept cash in lieu im pretty sure you avoid write off process...they offer you a cash sum and you keep the car, its not recorded...its been a while since that happened to me but no one really asks insurers for a ' cash in lieu ' settlement. The onus is on you to suggest it and I think they have to go down that route if you specify. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure thats the nub of it. Good luck
oliS4

They initially valued my old S4 at 2000 the cheeky F***ers

You'll be able to get a more sensible valuation with a little persistance, I sent them all of the current classifieds adverts of S4s for sale (around 15), and with prices climbing at the moment it could get you more than what I got for mine!
Cmg-rob

Update, just had them on the phone.

From the pics I've sent they have said it's repairable.

Ok I said but it's not just body panels that are damaged.

Said I can take it wherever I like or use one of they're approved body shops
dhali

Good result

Alps

Told ya it was never a write-off
Cmg-rob

Bit of an update, they didn't take into account the steering damage.

Had an engineer out yesterday and just had him on the phone, as a guide estimate he said repairs are looking in excess of 4500

Book value he says is 4-4500

Down to me to negotiate with the insurers once he's submitted his report.

If I buy this back if it does get written off, who would buy it and how much would it be worth
pjbRs

What's damaged?
Cmg-rob

Osf door, wing, wheel, steering arm, bumper, wing mirror glass
pjbRs

So all that's wrong mechanically is a streering arm and an alloy.
That's not major to repair and the body pretty straight forward with used parts.

I would say about 1,500 to repair and paint being generous if you used a smaller body shop.

It's probably worth 1,500-2k sold as a cat c.
