My R26

I've had this car now for 9 months and it's been a cracking car so far.
The handling is sublime and corners like its on rails ! Suspension is firm and on a bad road it can be very bouncy. Brakes are fantastic and cheap to replace
Very good on petrol best I managed was 415miles !
the steering is sharp and more commutative then the Audi and you can feel when it's going to let go etc but it's easy to catch.
It can feel twichy on a fast sweeping bend over 90mph etc whereas the Audi feels more planted. It excels at quick sharp corners ! And it's very good in the wet
The build quality is crap ! The interior is like a wheelybin cheap plastic and falls apart
I've covered 19k miles and it's had the hub on one side replaced (common problem) window regulator broke, slipping clutch, track rod end, small cam cover gasket leak.
Took it camping and it was surprisingly practical !
Got my first track day on the 16th January at brand hatch
They are very tuneable and I might upgrade the intercooler with a Milltek cat back

I loved my old 5GT Turbo and it sounds like Renault haven't really changed the formula.

Great engines/handling/brakes

Shite everything else

The Renualtsport  Megane 3 is meant to be much better built car so I will get a 250/265 cup next
lynchy

Done a track day at Brands hatch and the car was faultless.

I did like this when I saw it at Buddies, are they cheap to buy now?
lynchy

They do vary depending on mileage, condition  etc from £4k to about £8k.
It's a cracking car regarding the handling and fun factor !
jasongtr

pretty reasonable for a decent hot hatch trhen

very nice bud   they are cracking cars and more reliable then people think and when things do need replacing or fixing it's very cheap
aidank1981

shame all the good looks and design stop after the rear quarter panels.....

rear end is horrendous!
Shamx1166

The design feature does help it so even tho it's ugly it will pass many high powered cars on track or around town struggle to be agile on track that's the beauty in the back end lol

Btw

We do love a big ugly butt sometime...

I get your point actually but I'm growing to love it just like the gt5 turbos future classic and when modded they are danger to drive as they are paper weight

Any way a clip to educate you about hot hatches in the mid/late noughties.

Another one to look out for is the R26 R
Let you be the judge of that.

225 f1 r25 & r26 are good bang for the buck as the stripped out R26 r is well over 15k mark

Love both the ultra & Noggy mate looks as good as rs4

Again ❤️R26 as I'm definitely upgrading mine to it.
lynchy

I would love a R26R but the price is far too much ! This colour would be ideal

Got some serious rubber (Michelin sport cup 2's) for the spring and summer ahead ! Oh abd a few track days of course !
I had Goodyear F1 assymetrical 2 which lasted 20,000 miles so pretty good.

Owned a clio 197 for a year or two, knew a couple of lads with the r26, very capable cars.
And as you say, more reliable than a lot of people give them credit for!

Looks like a proper laugh on track!

Update : just a couple of pics from my road trip in the R26. Track day at Spa and the Nurburgring

they are great on track ! Corners well just lacking in power when it comes to the straights. I will be getting upgraded intercooler, 3" catback exhaust, injectors with a remap so should see about 275ish bhp
Noggymike

You are having waayy too much fun in that!
172cup

I had a 225 cup and throughly enjoyed it.  Only sold it in a family upgrade. Got a 250 megane.

Have to say, dead funny, I saw the r26 r, and I got a brochure.,  still have it. Told the wife, who replied,  what about the kids... What kids I said...  As they say rest is history two kids later...

But with a gorgeous b8 s4 advant stage 1+. Only sell it for a rs6 plus free fuel card lol

Update :

So after 25 months and 51k miles driven in that time with Trackdays at Brandshatch,Spa,Snetterton 300,Silverstone and a lap of the Nurburgring ! The R26 has been great fun and very reliable
Recently done the long road trip up to Scotland too and was faultless and fun ! Next on the list will be another few more Trackdays before the end of the year and to upgrade the intercooler with remap.
lynchy

Fitted a R26R spoiler and a Ktec "3 catback exhaust

Before and after
