New discs & pads

Picked up my discs and pads this week and I have to say I was quite taken back by the sheer weight of the discs.

Genuine Audi discs 385x36mm and a mere 17.6kg each!!!

By far the biggest discs I have had to purchase to date.

Went with Ferodo Premier pads after hearing poor feedback regarding the pagids.

Courier wasn’t impressed as the sender has put a total of 12kg on the package when in fact it was 35.2kgs

Discs - 4F0615301J £195 inc P&P (£185 without)
Pads - £81.08 inc P&P from Opie Oils (includes recent "Clearance" offer)

Doh

Nice coaster you have there. Where did you get them from, seems very good prices.

Got the discs off ebay.

The seller had them up for £195 or offers and he accepted £185

A certain member here had a set for £199.99 or offers so I sent a cheeky offer of £175; he declined the offer and put the price up by £90 to £289.99

Also a set for sale with Plymouth Audi for £250 - Item number: 150869215802

Fitted at the weekend.

Fitting new brakes is like buying some new shoes; braking feels so much nicer now.

£275 well spent.

Cool, thanks - you wouldn't happen to have the fitting for the rears??

Thank Audi for the price hike.

You should have pressed the "buy it now button" then I would have had to sell them at less than cost to you.

Your "cheeky" offer made me check the current cost price.

That's not a Pagid part number.

No, it's a Ferodo number.  i think the Ferodo part number for rears is FDB1636, but would like to check before I order.

According to the Opie Oil's website where I bought my front pads the rears are -

FERODO SL Brake Pads Reference FSL1655 - Rear Axle

FERODO Premier Brake Pads Reference FDB1655 - Rear Axle

I think Opie Oil's site is wrong - that is the S6 part I believe....
barryrs

I assumed that's what we were talking about as that's what I started the thread about?

What model are you looking for?
skiwi

Ahh, sorry - looking for an RS6...
barryrs

Quick bump of this thread as there has been an issue with the Ferodo pads.

I have developed an annoying vibration at a very specific pressure on the brakes and this is being attributed to the pads.

A run out test was performed on the discs proving they haven't warped and the surface has signs of a very slight scoring and tiny pits have formed on the surface.

Opie Oils have been very good in offering a refund on the Ferodo's and they have Brembo pads listed that i will purchase instead.
mikeclem

thanks for posting this information, I am due to get a full set of discs pads and drop links for mine, this sort of forum activity really helps other members, please post any thoughts on the brembo's....
barryrs

Hi mike, the brembo pads were on a 5/6 week delivery so I should hopefully have them soon and will report back.

Having spoken to my local dealer recently I think I was quoted circa £300 for discs and £200 for pads via them.
