Nurburgring 11th - 13th Sept?

Anyone going?   Anyone fancy it?  It's open 8:00am-7:30pm Sat/Sun, and best of all it's not a German public holiday weekend, so should in theory be a wee bit quieter.  Went once on a public holiday weekend, it was packed!

Look at the fun you could be missing out on!

Very tempting Mike.

Party boat with Gordon?
mikey-s

Do it David!  Have you ever been?

Gordon?
IanH755

There's about 6 of us from 246 going which should be fun!

We've got a trip over there planned for that weekend, 12 cars! We'll see you over there.

Renault Sport World Series on the GP track same weekend too, so expect to put through the pit lane at T13!

FlashyG

We went at the end of October last year and watched the last VLN race, which was good.

The party boat is fun too

Ahh Flashy!   I've never done the party boat, but it sounds interesting.  Sounds like it could be a busy weekend, but it's the last chance I'll have this year so it's a must for me. I need to have my Nurburgring fix!

Yeah likewise, haven't been over since 2011 and have been desperate to go back! Only my 7th trip over there!

Where are you guys staying?  I usually stay at the RingHaus with friends, but it looks like I'll be going out there on my own this time because they are all unavailable!    Anyone doing the tunnel, and leaving Friday morning/afternoon?
b3ndy

We're staying at a guest house in Herschbroich. Always stayed there, and we can use his double garage for storing tools too! Yes, Eurotunnel for us, on the 11:20 crossing on Friday. Half of us are coming back Sunday, the rest are staying until Monday to make full use of all day opening on Sunday!

Excellent, we'll see you over there then! Or at the chunnel, which crossing are you on?
mikey-s

Something has come up and I can't make it now.  Absolutely gutted.

Just added my little report to my Member Car thread so thought i'd put it here too:

So, with our planned 'Ring trip coming up, I thought i'd book it in with my local guy Tom who is able to sort out an MRC map for the car, and go to Stage 2 with Launch and Flat Shift. Was meant to be routine, until I have a call saying the car is only running 0.4 bar boost! N75 fault, so replace that, get all boost back again then reveals a misfire problem. This was isolated down to a faulty coil pack, which was replaced and all seemed OK, apart from a cough/misfire every now and again which I put down to another coil pack failing.

Tom very kindly lent my 6 coilpacks and 2 spare ICMs to get me through the weekend!

Pretty much all the guys that came on our trip had never been to the Nurburgring before, so our first lap out on Saturday was a sighting lap, so they could see how amazing the place is! For me, trying to drive slower round that track, and off line is actually quite hard!

Second lap, I could let the S4 have it, and really try and set a good time, 9:29 was my previous record in my old Nova track car, so was going for a sub 9 this weekend. The lap went well, really well, car felt strong apart from the occasional misfire but drove through it, and watching the GoPro footage back, managed an 8:57 lap! Brilliant, haven't been since 2011 and my first quick lap i'd already beaten my time! Maybe a sub 8:30 was on the cards....

3rd lap, took the owner of the Noggy S3 out, not a great start to the lap as a Megane had decided to stuff it, big style, causing a 30sec loss of time, but pushed hard anyway, until just over the halfway point, the long uphill climb after Lauda Links and Bergwerk. Massive loss of power, not boosting at all, but no smoke out the back! Good/bad signs! Limp it to the end of the lap with a marshal following just incase we broke down and they could get some money out of me!!

After getting the car back to the hotel, check tightening all boost/inlet hoses, scratching heads, a quick message to Tom and F hose or Throttle Body hose most likely. Oh yes, a 2" split in the bottom of the Throttle Body Hose. Thats my weekend done then! Managed to glue (with permabond), tape, zip tie, and tape again over the split to try and get me home on the Monday, and disconnect the N75, and luckily it lasted the 500mile trip home.

Would've loved to do a sub 8:30. Always next year.

Now some pics:

I did give him room, just:

Testing the flat shift before we went!!!
