Possible Fuse?

Hi guys, bit of a problem, i was listening to music earlier, (i have an aftermarket alpine headunit) and i noticed it wasnt sitting flush, so i pushed the corner and the whole thing went off completely after making like a click sound from the speakers. I'm thinking i might have blown a fuse because it's not turning on at all now. Problem is i don't know where my fuse box is   Would be grateful if anyone could help!! Car is a B5 S4.

Thanks!
DavidT

Fuse box is on the end of the dashboard on the drivers side. Open the door and you will see a removable panel.

You may have dislodged a connector on your head unit though?

I thought i might have done that actually, i guess i'll have to take it all out tonight and have a look! it did make a noise like soething being pulled out, you know how if you unplug a wire whilst music is playing, and you hear a sort of "pop" from the speakers.
I'll check both i guess. Thanks for the reply!

Check the back of the unit as well, most headunits tend to have a 10a fuse on the back of them
Hopefully its just that and you havent shorted something and blown the HU

Hi Nick. I think the +ve wire in the plug on the back of the stereo might have been a little loose; try that first.
How's the old girl treating you?
Matt.

Hi Matt,

good to hear from you, it's going well, such an amazing car, and (touchwood) no problems at all with it so far, except this one issue with the headunit! The fuel consumption is crippling though! But not enough to put me off
The airbag light is on, but that happened when i moved the seat back once, i just haven't managed to find anyone with VAGcom to turn it off yet!
Need to book it in for another service at MRC soon aswell.
I'll pull it out again on my lunchbreak and check that wire and the fuse. When i had a quick look last night everything seemed plugged in properly etc, but it was dark.

Did you get that cossie in the end? How's it going?
Don

Think it was the red wire, was a little loose in the plug if I remeber correctly. Glad you've had no problems; not that I thought you would for one minute!
Yes mate, got a cossie. Been on the road for just over a month now and I love it to bits, makes all the right noises and handles just how a car should handle! Even my little boy loves it, as he says "it's loud and makes good noises", good lad! Just needs another few ponies now as after the Audi it's slow as fook!!!!!!!!!!!

ha ha, glad to hear it! The audi is such a different car to my old elise. I actually enjoy the commute to work now! Although i have a feelign i may miss it on the summer evenings.
Yeah the cossie must feel slow compared to the S4, it really is stupidly fast. a few seconds of full throttle in 6th on the motorway and it's rapidly approaching the end of the speedo!
I'll go and check that wire in a bit on my lunch and report back! fingers crossed!

Sorted! was a 20A fuse in slot number 38 if anyone was wondering! thanks guys.
