Presenting ..... The Fastest Car in the World

Its here ... sorry, crapberry pic

will get some better ones at ADI

plan to see if I can swap the 18's for a set of TT 19's Black Edition RS 4 wheels on Friday before ADI ... if they'll clear the brakes

Spec is very simple:

- Sepang
- Tech Pack
- S - Tronic

I have to say, apart from the 18's, I do really really like the look of it up close and personal ... and I really didnt like my old TTS

Now, only done 50 miles in it home, but .... ermmmmmmmmmmm  32MPG

wow ... 340PS and 32mpg with 50 miles on the clock !

and, i bet your all wondering ... is it really as fast as its legend precedes ...

the answer is undoubtably YES

It's 100% quicker than my RS 4 to 100mph, which dyno'd at c.390PS

I can prove this theory on Sat to ADI, as my mate will be in the banananana and I'll drag him

O

M

G

the sound ! faaaaaaaaaaaark

I havent even got the Sport Exhaust, but when you put sport mode on, it opens the zorst flaps, and bloody hell the sound of this 5pot is GLORIOUS !!!!

you hear the huge turbo woosh up to 3k rpm, then all of a sudden a roar of 5potness fills the cabin !

amazing, addictive !

Love the S-tronic, will sit in 7th gear in manual, 3 clicks later im in 4th, footdown and it takes off to the moon

two words .........

LOVE IT

MarkB

Great first report and much what I expected. If you can get over the TT badge all the right bits are there.

Much like a Skoda

Very nice Dave!

LOL

I'd take you to 60 if I engaged Launch Control from a standing start

but by 65, you'd be a mile in front

he he he.... I know which I'd rather take round The 'Ring though!!
Moonwalker

Fantastic car, engine and package. It doesn't give me the Holy Feck reaction all pre 2002 RS Audis used to give me just by looking at one, but I bet that would change if I drove one.
sonny

Nice write up, not feeling it myself, however I want this to change so I demand a pax at ADI at ADI Dave
aka_dk

wow

took it thru a tunnel today !

the sound !!!!!!!!
iR8V10

Better than a V8!?
aka_dk

dont be silly dave !
aka_dk

iv also been shocked at just how fast it is .... caught me out a few times....

it must be Lambo quick running 420PS
pjbRs

I think a tuned 5 pot is a close second to a v8 soundtrack for me, get it decat'd dave and turn it into a flame thrower.
I bet that is rapid with the auto box, i just wish they made modern Rs's look more aggressive.
But a mighty nice company car mate.
RS4Jules

Looking good Dave

I want to have a go in one,ive heard so many good things, just a shame the backs are so small

Will have to have a little play and see what they are like against each other. Would be rude not to really.
aka_dk

O M G

just tried launch control

the words LIGHT SPEED come to mind !
MilkybarKid

Can't be doing it right Dave.

I heard they were quicker than that
aka_dk

mate, it shocked the feck out of me ...

i had an S3 s-tronic, and launch control in that was fast, but nothing special

the TTRS was literally mental !

I've never been that fast in my life (acceleration wise)

im bringing it to ADI now as its all gone to fcuk

It was good having the drag race with you and Nigel very rapid car in just standard form !
pjbRs

i think 3.6 was quoted in am American road test?

4.3 is quick for 335 ps though and a proper launch control that doesn't self destruct after 3 goes.
missmouse

Id believe a really good driver could get it down to that in STD form but 3.6? sorry, just  dont believe you could shave a full second off the factory time! I remember reading some maths about speed/ accel , & I cant remember the exact details but it was something extreme like- a car that had a top speed of 100 , to get it to do 110 you had to DOUBLE the power?
also once you get into sub 5 sec times, a full second is FAR more significant than back in the 7 or 8 second league times. 3 secs to 60 is into BIG, BIG bike territory! ( with a good rider!)
( Ive also had a shot in one of these - my mate has one. fast - yes - very, but not THAT fast!)

Missmouse, where do you live? i'll pop round, vbox in window and show you my TTRS doing 0-60 in 3.3secs.

There's no really good driver about it. The clue is in Launch control, left foot on brake, right foot flat to the floor on the throttle, left foot off brake, off you go.

We have done the whole 0-60 thing before, Audi officially quote 4.3 to 62, 60 therefore in 4.1secs, however numerous tests have bettered this by half a second or so. (Not a full second like you always claim)

My completely standard RS low on fuel, 3.67, with a tune it is now doing 3.3secs every single time, thats the thing with DSG, no effort required

If you're close by, I'll happily let you have a go in mine with vbox attached to the windscreen measuring the feat.

They are that quick (Has to be DSG model though) Manual model you would struggle to get below 4secs unless you knew what you were doing on launch and flatshifting.

DK, glad you're enjoying it, wait until you have the thing mapped

Car and driver report 3.6...

My own efforts from my standard car..

The heavier RS3 manages 3.8 to 60 and this is a UK test carried out by Jeremy Clarksons Top gear.. (No reason why the lighter more aerodynamic TT cant do it in 3.6)

http://www.germancarforum.com/int...3-vs-bmw-1m-performance-data.html

It does seem incredible with so little power but car performance has moved on over the last few years especially since the DSG gearbox has come on leaps and bounds. 5-10yrs ago it was only supercars that were capable of sub 4 0-60 and sub 10sec 0-100 runs, now we have family hatches doing it.

Exciting stuff in my opinion.
Nudenut

Well DK's TTRS S-Tronic couldn't get anywhere near me on Sat with a rolling start from 50mph so I was happy

As to be expected given your little power difference

Still though, they are nippy little motors and make good use of lets be honest a mediocre (in todays terms) 335bhp.
aka_dk

but it was neck and neck with a V8 R8 which pulled c.385 on the dyno

I gave it a "spin" round the car park... great fun I have to say, lovely sound, nice weight distribution and sharp box!

Can defo see the attraction from sitting within the car!!

Well Dk I must say I'm a little disappointed. Looks like its not the fastest car in the world

But don't feel bad. Dorothy still thinks its very cute

I do think for a 335 brake car they are mighty impressive, if only they made it look more manly.

ahhh yes, but that was from a rolling start of 50mph

from a standing start, with launch control, it would muller it

and when mapped, it would give 778PS Nige a better run !

Your gearbox accounts for that difference, everytime I shifted up, I lost another foot.

I got in front of DK where I stayed BUT he was getting closer and closer with every gear change I done. He was near enough next to me before we hit traffic which I soon realised my brakes are rubbish. Very impressive car and very quick for only 335bhp    I wouldnt like to have a go with a mapped TTRS

"Official performance figures indicate the TT RS Coupé will accelerate from standstill to 100 kilometres per hour (62.1 mph) in 4.5 seconds (4.7 seconds for the Roadster), with an electronically limited top speed of 250 kilometres per hour (155.3 mph).[34] There is a factory option to de-restrict the top speed to 280 kilometres per hour (174.0 mph).[34] The Coupé has a kerb weight of 1,450 kilograms (3,197 lb),[34] and the Roadster weighs in at 1,510 kilograms (3,329 lb)."
Like you say, this has been done to death & I'm sure you will come back with a different "official" figure, but all Im saying is, Ive been in one & while it is very deffo a fast car, its just not as fast as you say! Maybe yours IS but the one Ive been in will not take my old bus! ( close tho!) Maybe its running on 4 cylinders? LOL!

Missmouse, you do realise there are 2 versions of the TTRS, yes?

Yes...

2(Well there are actually 4 if you count the roadsters)

Direct from Audi....

http://www.audi.co.uk/new-cars/rs/tt-rs-coupe.html

As for your articles, well out of date, VAT hike 01/01/11 sent prices rocketing, £42,985 upto £45,840 for the manual car.

Manual car was rebranded to show 0-62 in 4.5 down from 4.6 too. (There's no 0-60 in it, that's a British thing, Audi are German )

I suspect you have been in a manual RS, not a DSG RS. Anyway, facts and figures there in black and white. If you are into drag racing, Ill happily meet you at Crail, take you for a spin in the other version of the car

Well, if a 471bhp RS4 can't lose a standard TTRS, then with my 430+ish RS4, I'll be staying well clear or them!

Does mapping them up to 400+ put the DSG launch control in danger of exploding or is the gearbox up to taking it?  I suppose that not many will have covered any significant mileage to tell?

Power isn't really the problem it's torque, anything beyond 600Nm or so will have the box shedding power as it's only officially rated up to 600. Currently there is no DSG tune for the DQ500.

there quick mitchy's time was pretty much similar to mine at the same strip all though i think my ambient temps that day were only 17degrees his were 30 and i was running 565bhp at the time i ran
