Professor Peaches New Toy

So, the D2 has gone and it's time to be sensible (ish). Having driven a TTS on an Audi Sport event recently, I was reminded how much fun a small nippy manual car can be, but I needed a little more practicality!

So, Audi finance was discussed and I now own almost a whole wheel of this.....

Collected it last night and I love it. Yes, I know, compared to the D2 it's a modern boring box, but such a great place to be and feels so sorted on the road!

I shall give my opinions as we go on over the coming months!
Markv

Very nice indeed.👍👍
buzzard

That is larvly Rob....

Black - best colour and all mod cons

I love your garage ... and that car's a real peach !!!

I was so tempted to buy your d2 but already have an x3 with that 'box setup and know it would have frustated me (eventually)

Having said that .. what a car it was ... and ... what a car that is ... enjoy sir !

Simon
Professor Peach

Thanks guys, I'm really chuffed with it.

Simon, my garage is OK, but sadly doesn't look quite like that one!
Ian_C

Wow - first of the facelifts too!  Absolutely love our family well specced 2015 8V Sportback 2.0 litre turbo.  Sadly diesel not petrol!

Mythos black like ours?  Or something a bit more exclusive?  Hope to see yourself and the new toy soon!
jockthedog

very nice Rob, very nice indeed
guymcc

Yep, cracking car!  Looks the biz!
Noggymike

OOOOOOFFFFFFFFFF!  Mr Peach

How very dare you!

Looking the biz Roberto!

You have to show us more, more, more!
Professor Peach

Cheers folks. I'll get some more photos later.

Yes Ian, Mythos black. It was the showroom car, so we'll spec'd with the 19", magnetic ride, all electric seats etc. One thing I would have liked, but doesn't have is B&O , but the standard system is pretty good. I could have ordered my specific requirements, but it would have been so similar to this one and cost me lots more. It was registered a week before the registration swap. I suspect they wanted their sales number up, so got a good deal.
HPsauce

Splendid car Rob, but Mythos is very definitely not black.
I've been drinking this sort for the last week.....

Ian_C

Audi often name paint colours after places - is Mythos somewhere in Greece?

(other examples - Mauritius, Caribbean, Sepang, Mugello, Nogaro, Nardo, Imola, Goodwood,  etc etc)

No, it's a beer brand invented as recently as 1997!

I suspect I'd like that Mythos too! The beer is probably named after the Audi colour. Honest!
Zildjian

Posh!! Bet it smells nice.

Yep, you're right it does, but my D2 S8 still smelt fantastic after 14 years! It must be what I smell of!

For sale, Eau de Peach. Gives your car the special aroma that can only come from The Professor! Not convinced a career in marketing would have suited me!

Alps

Congratulations on such a lovely purchase

So, what are the plans for it???
Professor Peach

Thanks Alps. The plans, are not to change it one anyway shape or form, but of course keep it extra clean and shiny (as well as an everyday car can be). First full week of ownership has been excellent. One group of yoofs trying to race me in Daddies Golf GTi, but still taking it easy. Attention I never got in the S8.

First proper clean today as well!

dave c

Really liking the looks of the new s3
Professor Peach

First proper drive today. Visiting the outlaws in Sheffield, I needed to pop over to Manchester Airport to collect the brother in law. It eats those twisty miles so we'll. The punch for safe overtaking is great. Dynamic mode through the sweeping bends and comfort mode for those dodgy Yorkshire pot hole ridden roads. I love the tech. The sat nav, phone connected stuff and sound system are fantastic. I think I may be converted to newer cars! Perhaps I need two, one old and one new.
Ian_C

Which route did you take from Sheffield to Manchester?  I just spent a long weekend in the Peak District, love the place

Professor Peach

I used Woodhead this time Ian, but have done various. I grew up on the edge of the Peak District (Leek), so know bits of it very well. Where did you stay?
Ian_C

House on the Stancliffe Hall estate, in Darley Dale, right on the edge of the Peak Park, just south of Chatsworth
Graham

How are you finding living with the S3 Rob?

Anything you are especially glad the car has or realised you would have liked?

How are you finding it on fuel and what sort of miles do you get out a tank?
Professor Peach

Loving it Graham! It does everything extremely well and I love the tech you get with a new car. Nothing on the option check list I feel aggrieved for not having, but if it had the B&O I would have been delighted (the base system is good, but I'm a bit fussy about such things).

Economy - well, I came from an S8, so of course is excellent in comparison. I'll see what the average is on the way home later, but I think into the 30's.

It goes, stops and corners better than most things I've owned (ok, not as quick in a straight line as my K04'd B5), but quiet adequate for general use.

However....... I really miss the character of the D2 S8 - it always felt like an event every time I got in it and I'd always glance back at it every time I parked and walked away!

I have a solution - I need two cars!  Sadly I was put at risk of redundancy last week, so that's not likely to happen anytime soon.

Sorry to hear about the job news. Fingers crossed.

As for the S8, did I tell you that your old one was on my drive last Wednesday morning!

Thanks Andrew - I hope to hear later today if I'm safe or not, but the size of the axe falling is scary!

I noticed on 'another forum' that Richard was visiting you - how is it looking? I hope he's looking after it!
Adrian E

Miss my S8 too

The Golf is highly competent and so much cheaper to run it's laughable but doesn't quite have the sense of occasion about it.  Does go well and spec list on ours is nuts.

Main thing I miss is 4 wheel drive.....
Graham

Thanks for the update Rob.

You thinking of a change Graham? You're welcome to have a good nose around it and a ride if it helps.
Professor Peach

....and to answer your previous question Graham, 34MPG.
