R8 options ... V8 or V10 ...

If you had the choice of Engine, Gearbox and body. Which would you go for???
BennyBoo

I've gone for the V10 R-Tronic...

I've always liked the flappy paddles..
Don't like spyders...
What's the point in a V8 when you can have the V10??
MathiasS

V10 R-Tronic hands down!
Parptoot

V10 manual for me but I'd be happy with any if it was a freebie!
audimad100

got to be the howl of the V10 mated to a manual box,

Have you ever driven R-tronic?
s4marsh

This video shows the v10 r-tronic gearchanges http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUpUoCIk9nQ

I would still have a V10 manual though just for the click of the metal gate when you change gear

Wish I'd had this at The Ring last weekend.... A-Mazing car!!

xyber

V10 Manual for me.

I'd much prefer a Gallardo though. My favourite car ever!

I had the R-Tronic Mark, loved and hated it in equal measures but the car is designed to be driven predominantly and that's where I loved it! Just not as smooth as I'd have liked at low speeds, you have to massage the throttle to effect changes in auto.

What box was in the one at the weekend Mark?
Ian_C

Manual V10 Coup please.

Yeap, I had the R-Tronic also. Auto mode was rubbish, tried it a couple of times but if you forget you are in it and go to overtake on the motorway ... foot down ... big pause as it drops a cog to scream past rather than use the torque.

Hated the paddles on the wheel rather than the column but at least there was the stick to still use. Gallardo much better with proper column mounted paddles.

I'm going to do a full report on the couple of days of having it soon.

Look forward to the report

I have wheel mounted paddles on the 6 so used to it tbf, and although I don't have to, I often drop a cog on the paddles to overtake just for the driving involvement.

The 6's "slush" box is sublime for full auto daily driving though... will miss that.
sonny

The spyder is growing on me.

I did not vote as I have not driven any. Im leaning towards the V10...

V8 manual with supercharger is the way to go. More power, sounds far better and for far less than the V10 cost!

With the R-Tronic box being so cluncky and slow it's got to be the manual for now, however if/when Audi make and fit an S-Tronic that can handle the addition of FI torque then it'll be a close call.

PES are presently developing a TVS1900 kit for the 4.2FSI engine that'll kick out a lot more.

V10 FSI either NA with Milltek race exhaust and remap (600 PS) or V10 supercharged. Ideally R-Tronic because it even lets you bounce it off the rev limiter if you want it to
buzzard

V8 manual for me

I love the sound of a v8

It's all in the burble
BennyBoo

Going to add the S-Tronic to the choice list now?

I always thought Audi said it could not be done as it wouldn't fit..?
