Great video and the new Megane 265 trophy has just beaten that previous R26.R record.

Amazing for a FWD car. I've just got a RSport Meggy.

I'm just deciding between a Megane F1 and an E46 M3, do you miss the power?

Which one Contigo?

I went round with an experienced driver in an R26R at Easter, and it was phenominal.  Ask Juice.

Not experienced a car like it actually.  Would imagine Jeff's car would handle equally as well... Can honestly say with good brake pads and tyres, it's good to go straight out of the box.

I miss the kick in the back from the B5 but I do not miss the running costs at all. Money Pit is the word.

I actually cheated on the Megane and bought the Dci 175 oil burning version because I wanted a combintation of Economy and performance and it ticked all the boxes. It's plenty fast enough to bring a smile to my face every time I get in it and returns me 45mpg.

If it were me I'd get a Megane F1 because it's different and actually quicker in recent tests than the E46 M3.

Drive one and then decide, you get alot more car for your money with the F1.

Sounds about right, looking at a few F1's this weekend so i'll see how it feels.

The handling will do it for me, fast b road fun

Until I get upset by Marc1 on the motorway.........that will be a first

You better get used to it the way your headed!  At least I can save money on the dp's etc just to keep up with your S4 - means I might be able to keep refilling the fuel tank

The R26.R is a really good bit of kit which is really built for the track  and as you say people really don't appreciate the power and handling of the car. The way it changes direction is the most impressive thing and the video link above really shows it.

I am tempted to get an .R next time or even the new 265 which is even quicker than the .R around the ring.

I was interested in the .R a while back but chickened out.  Having actually experienced 5laps as pax at The Ring with that chap above, I was seriously impressed and would have one without a doubt.

The F1 is 99% a .R, so better VFM.  The main advantage being the addition of the LSD which makes all the difference.

Even if they are made from cheese...

Hard cheese    I had a new 2.0 Megane in 04 and clipped a curb @ 60mph then into a dry stone wall which flipped the car onto its roof and continued to slide for some distance like that up the middle of a country lane I popped the seat belt off and scrambled out waiting for some pain and nothing, just a bruised arm! I only cut myself going back into the car to get my wallet though
It was written off................

I had a similar experience at goodwood with someone who has been going every year to the Ring for the last 13 years.  His R26.r (R888s, titanium exhaust, full cage etc etc) left me astounded: the way that you can get the back end out under braking, turn in and it just sticks and sticks while making all manner of mid corner adjustments- I would have one like a shot....

So I think the general concensus on here is that these are pretty damn good cars both on road and track.

Yep, going to look at an F1 this weekend, Milltek, bigger IC and mapped, hope it ticks the boxes!
scoobydood

I test drove 2 F1s before finally buying the Leon.
Even with the LSD they struggled to put the power down on a slightly damp surface and the LSD was quite savage when you got traction. Keeping the steering wheel straight was fun Just couldn't get over the looks though
