Rob's Hibiscus Red S4 Avant

Hello all,

Finally bagged an S4 after a long search and some help along the way.
Bought off a forum member who obviously cherished the car as much as I will, stacks of history (wanted for nothing) and drives as tight as a new car.

Got a few mods in mind, nothing groundbreaking, just simple mods to compliment the way it already drives. (like a dream!)

Just thought I would share a few pictures off my phone...

Not to my standards yet as I am extremely busy (aren't we all...) but got some time off coming up, so a full detail will be carried out.

Just after purchase: (you may recognise the rather lovely green one)

After a quick polish:

Some interior Shots:

Thanks looking
Zildjian

Tasty. Welcome to the S4 club 😎
Challice

Fantastic example
pjbRs

Looks good buddy.

Love the fact it's got a black interior, all the other hibiscus cars I've seen have the gash looking beige.

Enjoy.
Dubnuttah

Cheers, yes the interior is great
Noggymike

Nice one Rob

Glad to see you bagged one in the end

Looks fantastic, credit to Iain.

Don't be a stranger on here and don't forget I have a few mods here waiting for you!

Btw

That green thing in your pics

Reminds me of a Viking ship for some reason

Nice car mate!!!

Welcome to the club of the sleeper car

Andy
Dubnuttah

Cheers guys

Oh I know Mike, you didnt reply though
Dubnuttah

Rightio, managed to get the car on the workshops ramps today.

Pretty pleased, few niggles to sort, one thats a real PITA but oh well..

Rear inner brake flexi's are on their way out
Diff is leaking (new seals required)
Small patch of corrosion on the rear subframe (easy fix when get chance)
The CPS are weeping (knew about this when bought the car)
And the cambelt change is looming... (new about this when bought the car)
O/S/F brake pad warning sensor is taped up (further investigation required)

The ballache is the o/s xenon ballast has given up the ghost, after me thinking it was just a bulb

So if anyone happens to be selling a ballast I am in need of one, as I need to MOT the car to get it back on UK plates, and I can sort the other jobs out no danger.

Any whoo, thats my news with the car, still loving it and the envy of the works car park hehe
Dubnuttah

So thought I'd better update this, not had chance to get on recently.

Firstly, replaced the ballast so I have both headlights again (comes in quite handy)
The car is now back on UK plates with a fresh MOT (nill advisorys, but still going to replace the rear brake flexis)

Car is also booked in for next Friday for the dreaded cambelt replacement.

Once the cambelts done, exhaust will be next on the list to change.

I am on the hunt for "piggie pipes" or 3" downpipes at a reasonable price....

Happy with the power level at the moment as I dont drive it all the time, once I've "gotten used" to it will be thinking about a remap.

Rightio, boring stuff out the way, been busy cleaning the car so thought I would whore some pictures of it

Dubnuttah

Just a few off my phone..

There was also some horrible marks on the door that I managed to flat and polish out, was really surprised as It looked like it might of needed painting really!

cant even tell they were there!

Anyway, really pleased with the results, still some areas need work but didn't have the time to flat the car down to get some more of the nasty scratches out but I think we did well in the time we had.

Let us know what you think, and yay or nay for the wind deflectors?

C J

No on the wind deflectors. Don't spoil a nice clean straight car.

They look noddy as fcuk.
Dubnuttah

Noddy? (im presuming bad lol)
rs6fan

I'm sure I remember this car from around Stockport/wilmslow area of Cheshire. Looks nice
kylebrady

Very nice mate
Zildjian

Stunning!!

Never been a fan of wind deflectors though. They remind me of those big flip up sunglasses that the elderly have fitted to their normal glasses.
Zildjian

Duplicate.
Noggymike

Nice 1 Rob

Glad you are enjoying your S4
Dubnuttah

Some pictures of Matt's Aka Vikings cars outside vagtuner live at Donnington Park...

Also here is a dyno printout that's in with the service history of the car.

any ideas why it's pretty bob on what the power output should be, but producing more torque than standard?

(car is completely standard)
Noggymike

Looking good Rob

Reckon she needs a little drop to compete with the Viking!

Jimbo I'm trying to find you through the search function but I can't get it to work mate.

It's about the wanted ad I've put up. Someone says you've got a wide bodied track car. I don't really want a wide body cos Im after the look of the 90's Bttc super touring A4's. If I'd got 100 grand I'd have the one that I've seen fs lol.

Yes mate! Greatly appreciated sir!
Dubnuttah

So the cambelt has now been replaced, along with new brake pads.

Forgot to take pics of new pads but nothing special or interesting anyway..

The mods have now started..

I now have a "pope airbox"

Planning on doing all the supporting mods before I get it remapped, bigger brakes are on the list, (why I only changed the pads for now) along with big bore downpipes and bespoke exhaust.

Still researching options and seeing what other people have done, loving the journey, some very good info on here, and with the help of friends.

Currently looking at wheel options and then lowering.
Noggymike

Nice 1 Rob.

Ask the Viking about mods, he knows a thing or two
Dubnuttah

We have had many a conversation about mods
kylebrady

Looking good mate there will be another s4 avant in the northwest soon

Is it in the fastest colour?
kylebrady

Yeah mate noggy
Alps

You've had a lot of credit for your car on here, so I'll give credit to the green S - it looks absolutely stunning.

Are you going to drop yours a little?
Dubnuttah

@ Kyle yes mate, need to check out mr mikes handywork!

@ mike :eyeroll:

@ Alps Matt's is a stunning example, one of the reasons I have lusted over owning an S4 for many years...

And yes, maybe some 30mm springs, have had various slammed cars over the years, but love the standard/sleeper look of mine but we will see what happens

Having issues with the brakes at the moment, but with "vikings" help we should have them sorted as soon as I have time.

Not driven her in nearly a month
rich86

This is such a nice example, the more I look at examples of the hibiscus ones the more I like them.

Any updates on the front brakes? I keep looking at the Brembo 18 and 17z's.
Noggymike

Shame you couldn't come down to the meet today Rob

The Vikings cake knocked spots off my bbq!
rs6fan

Very very nice colour
