Mmm, I'd love some of those on mine... What's the spec's please?

there 18x9.5 et20 so perfect for a rs4 or a rs4 body conversion. Not so perfect for a standard body s4 but iv made them work. Wheels are really for a evo aswell.

I've decided I need some of these for mine.

Anyone have any idea where to look to pick some up secondhand?
supersi

Mark I've got a good contact for rota
mikey-s

Lovely looking wheels.  Seen them on a Misano RS4 at the ring..  I want.
StumpyRS4

Price seems to have gone up in the last 6months...

c£900 a set.
marc1

They look pretty god damn fine!!!  Any more pics?

AdamS4

Don't you have to get wobble bolts as they are 5x114 ??
will1981

Yep, wobbly bolts only
MathiasS

Can you guys trust those on 500hp cars? (the wobble bolts)
si_hill

Nice wheels but seem to be getting pretty popular now. Even saw some on a mk4 golf in Taunton today, it did look pretty sweet though
Graham

Saw them on a Scooby last week. Looked brilliant. It was the nicest scooby I have ever seen mind.
stefan

Rota's are nice quality, even though they're just a bunch of replica wheels.
You could find a set of hubs, have them machined to 5x114.3 and either take bolts, or be a daddy and get extended wheel studs + long lug nuts.
surfpilot111

If you want them Rota's in 5x112, I can have them make it in 5x112.
I can call the owner of Rota and make the request.  The plant is located here in the Philippines. LMK!

Haha, now that is interesting
BennyBoo

I always confuse these with Volk / Rays te37's....

Much better IMHO
loomx

Im sure I have seen them for sale at 5x112 anyway... I really want them so bad, but I really doubt they would fit on a narrow body S4.

ETA: Doh scratch that, it was 5X120

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/333444-Rota-Group-Buy - Discussion trying to get 5x112 fitment..

Seems strange that Rota make other wheels in 5x112 fitment.. Just not the Grids..

Maybe it's because they are a copy of the Volks, they are available in the same sizes..?
loomx

The Volk TE37s are available in 5x112...

18 x 8.0 +50 73.1 VW Golf V, Touran/Audi A3(8P) 5 112 $830.00
BennyBoo

Oh, well it's a no brainer then, get the Volks!

lol
Paz

Rays/Volks ftw!!
BennyBoo

Paz wrote:

Virdee

Yep as you've probably guessed Rota's are a replica of the TE37

And if any of you have seen a TE37 wheel close up, and especially seen how light it is, you'll be amazed

I have 19x9.5 CE28N's on my GTR, and trust me when the wheels arrived, I could swing one wheel in the air, it's that light! And also Rays wheels are forged, under some serious pressure. Strong and light!
MarkB

Now I want some of the TE37's but @ ~£2.5K I won't be getting any

mine has over 500. Not a problem at all i track my car with these wheels and bolts.

If anyone wants rotas call Regal Autosports up.
Pau1

I have these on my track car too.  Absolutley love them.

MarkB

I'm going to steer clear of the Rota's

But I will be keeping an eye open for some Volk's
cantbassed

im not rota bashing at all as i have had a set of slipstreams on a honda civic sir2

but heres a couple of images floating around

mikey-s

Not worth taking a chance with IMO, especially on your pride & joy. It's a real shame though as they are some nice looking wheels.
StumpyRS4

Guess we'll find out soon enough...
xyber

Work do some nice wheels as well.

I wouldn't fit Rota's if they gave me them free. Too many reports of quality issues
stefan

It's all bullshit, off course those pics are real, but there are loads of pics floating around of destroyed 'brand'-wheels as well.
Those wheels in the pics where destroyed due to either user error, or extreme circumstances in wich a Rays TE37 would be damaged beyond repair too.

And I'd rather curb a 180 quid Rota than a expensive 400+ dollar Work wheel (like I did with my Emotion CR's, two of them at the same time actually).

That flat black Rota Subzero with the bent spokes?
The spokes were physically touching the caliper, user error afaik... show me the big brand wheels that survive that kind of abuse.
What do you think what'll happen to a set of BBS LM's when you overshoot the corner and hit the gravel at 80mph, heavily understeered?
If you think you could just get out and drive home on those baby's safely you're wrong.

And another fact; Rota's mother company has actually been producing LOADS of wheels for the OE market for YEARS.

All the Rota bashing comes from either jealous people who are not happy that their expensive premium wheels are now available per set for the price of one of theirs, or by people that f'ed up but are too dumb to admit they're at fault themselves and blame the wheel in stead.
The same people happily install stretched tires, wich is actually dangerous.
I know of soooo many people running Rota's, on high powered street cars, circuit cars and dragrace cars, and NONE of them ever had any problem with Rota's EVER.

For the record; I've never had replica wheels myself, just the real deal... but I refuse to go with the flow, and do my own reading up, pinch through the bullshit, and get to a healthy conclusion.
cantbassed

On my civic I had some enkei racing wheels (it had printed on the inside "for race use only" really light weight) were pretty special but not for le and I needed new tyres due to the camber, which I swapped for the slip streams also brand new tyres. Best thing I done tbh! I would of felt sick if I ruined the enkei's!

Iv contended a lot of rota bashing on the civic forums! They all got locked soon after!
supersi

I know loads of guys running Rotas with no problems and these guys are circuit drifters and really do give there rims a hard time
loomx

Never had a problem when I had Rotas on my previous car, and that car basically had no suspension and got serious abuse over all roads, hell the glove box used to open its self on bumpy roads.

MathiasS

These look extremely nice!

Are you gonna use wobble bolts?
iR8V10

Going to look great stumps!
bam_bam

Stumpy, your wheels, I want to have their babies. I would break rule 70 to be with your wheels.
StumpyRS4

Careful Bam Bam - you are the Fudge Judge.  Don't wimp out man...

Just got back from getting tyres fitted.  Can't get the rims on now due to the weather.

It's sheeting it down here at the moment.

marc1

Stumps they look sh*t hot mate.

Yup.
will1981

Fantastic looking wheels, and I bet you will be the only RS4 in the UK with them on?
Are you on std suspension Stump?
StumpyRS4

Yes stock suspension. Will post pics once they're on.
Using with 265 35 tyres.

^ Are they 18's then stumps?  Can't tell from the sticker but look like an 8 not a 9.
pjbRs

sticker says 18 x 9.5 nice looking wheel Stumpy.
Juice

they look gay!

StumpyRS4

Cheers! Look great with the tyres. Yes they're 18x9.5 ET20, so hopefully a straight as fit.

Will be some 10mm hubcentric spacers for sale tomorrow too.
Juice

what make are your spacers??
StumpyRS4

A mix. 2 are H&R. Can't recall the other 2, but all are hubcentric. Will also throw in the longer wheel bolts too... a must IMO for those with OEM rims.

Ha ha, your too kind Marc! Yes we need to arrange the sun inn meet, depends on the weather I guess!
pjbRs

At least put one on and take a pic.
StumpyRS4

I can't!  There's 4" of snow surrounding it...

Annoyingly, they should have been delivered last Wednesday, but due to the helpful courier service, I collected them myself on Saturday, on my way back from Wiltshire.

Now gonna have to wait until Thursday afternoon

Sorry about that.

Not sure who's more frustrated?  Me or you lot !!

iR8V10

You big tease Stumps!
StumpyRS4

Who says I'm a tease?

Big mutha tyres

I'll try & get back early tomorrow and fit at least a front one, to see how they fit...
H8CAK

Are these your track wheels stumps?
will1981

Stumpy, just go outside crack the nuts jack her up and fit one..............just f*ckin' do it! Then we can all relax have a beer and admire your amazingness
StumpyRS4

My everyday & track wheels.  These are lighter than 18x9J TD Pro Race 1.2s, by almost 2kgs per wheel.

Was on the verge of buying Oz Ultra HLTs (19x9) in Matt Black/Graphite, but at £1400 the set I couldn't justify them as well as the DPs next month.  With the wider wheels comes wider tyres (don't like a stretch), so that was another lump on top.  The Rotas + Falken 452s came in at c£1300 - but I've been wanting to change wheels for probably a whole year now, and seeing as it was Chrimbo...

Am selling the OEM wheels.

Will - I would defo crack my nuts doing it now - too fecking cold!  Patience oh Pad-Uwan...

Quote pyramid yeah woohoooo!!!!
Nice wheels there Stumpster, I wouldn't fit them yet, not even if all the snow and ice melted down, with all the salt and debris left on the roads for a while!
StumpyRS4

Here ya go then - Excuse the dirty callies etc:

The last pic really shows how much I need to drop the car ideally.

I have a few more bits to put on the car for the black trimmings - black mirror cases, and smoked indicator lenses (for the front wings).  I'm probably also going to either swap the roof rails for black ones, or wrap them in carbon vinyl.

The wheels (9.5J ET20) fit fine no rubbing with the 265/35 tyres either.  First indications on the road are the car does seem to turn in nicely maybe quicker but maybe thats also me thinking it does.

They're definitely lighter than OEM too.

Loving the concave-ness of the wheels.  The bolts unfortunately aren't black, ands they're 19mm so the OEM wheel brace is therefore not usable anymore.

MathiasS

Rimz look perfect!

If you drop the car some it will really come out !
loomx

Love em!
R5OTV

Very nice, super aggressive
supersi

To be honest not liking them on your car and thought I would, but as ive never seen on a avus rs now don't, i did want these wheels once as look so good on jap stuff, the STD suspension don't help defo, maybe look better with more black like I've allready done, also too many badges and stickers on the back and don't help as there all at differant hights, do like the width of the tyres, all IMO
bam_bam

Double hard.
will1981

Perfect! I want some now.................
marc1

Love it, now get it lowered
davs4

Minority here but have to say they don't seem to work for me, Jap cars I've seen with them have more curves and it seems to work better........
StumpyRS4

It's not an issue, it's personal taste.

Just Dave and Si are wrong!!
big mac

i think it deffo needs dropping i  love the rimz think with a drop and more black will look meaner than a bulldog chewing a wasp!!! looks like ch's are out and rota are in next season then the stumpy trend
Jonmurgie

Not sure myself yet... think it will start to really come together with the black mirrors/rails and some lowering, then I'll make my mind up
davs4

Jonmurgie wrote:

Black mirrors and rails then whole car black would work

Good on you for trying something differant will look better with more black

I not saying car looks not nice as it's a RS and look good anyhow, just there not looking as I'd hoped, get the other bits done I'm sure it will look better
Jonmurgie

Bit bored so here's what I think it "should" look like (hope you don't mind!):

Basically now has Black Mirrors/Rails/Window Trim along with smoked wing indicator and lowered (maybe a bit far).

Now THAT is one good looking car and the wheels work well I reckon

P.S. No need to thank me, I'll PM you my address for those spacers

no that looks better
StumpyRS4

Awesome!!  Thanks Jon.

Does look better.  Much better with the drop too.
The callies will be silver...??
Oh and I was considering some LAMINX film for the headlights/indicators...??  Too much ?!
BennyBoo

God they're nice.

NEED

They suit the B5 so much!
davey

i love them Stumpy
would look nice on mine with all the black bits i have.
Jonmurgie

StumpyRS4 wrote:

Calliper looks cool... not sure on the headlight film as it's a little 'chav' and would no doubt get you hassle from the cops.

I'd also go for a totally plain numberplate (i.e. no flag) and stick it on so it looks cleaner (same on the rear)
StumpyRS4

Thanks again Jon. You're gonna be popular with the PhotoShopping!

Plans are already afoot for the number plate. Being made as we speak...
marc1

Looks spot in I reckon Stumps. The drop Jon has done for you is perfect.  You gonna do the rest like that then?
littlebear

Looks super sweet... Love the black finishing in photoshop
StumpyRS4

I have the mirror covers and the smoked indicator lenses already (cheers Dave).

I wasn't intending on doing the window surrounds, but I'll look into it.

Roof rails is a Go !

Suspension is a yes also.  Could be a simple drop using H&R springs but that a -40mm drop, but is the cheapest option = c£150 for the 4x springs.  The shocks are ok at the moment, but who knows how long they'll last ?!

Coilies would be the better option but they're c£700-1500...
lynchy

You could go with the H&R coilovers which for everyday use are to firm  or the pss9`s which are fantastic for everyday use or the AST which are very popular for the scooby crowd and now available for our cars and they could set them up just how you want them tailor made so to speak..
marc1

Dibs on your ally mirrors

H&R thread http://audisrs.com/about13659.html&highlight=h+r+40mm
StumpyRS4

Yep but a bit pricey. Was considering the FK ones possibly. Probably just go with the springs for now though. Coilies maybe have to wait till the shocks give out!
lynchy

i would just save up for a decent set of coilovers dont bother with just the springs imho..
H8CAK

Stumps as much as i like you im seriously not a fan of those wheels They just dont look right to me. Not high end enough for a RS or even an Audi. More suited to a talbot sunbeam? I know im gonna get flamed but its my honest opinion
mikey-s

I like the look of them, they make the car look mean.  Here's a pic from my last ring trip, and that French RS looked great in the flesh.

big mac

i remember that car mike did look awesome think the problem with stumpy car is not the wheels its the color as the color is quite classe but with the black bits done think it will look alot better

stick with it stumpy it good to be different thats what modding is all about
MathiasS

He just needs to get lowered!
I'm positive they will appeal alot more people then!
