RS4 altenator

Does anyone know what brand the o.e alternator is? I'm also assuming the S4 one is the same?

Mine packed up last night, it's been giving low charge for the last week, going off the dash gauge but the car is dead now. I just wanted to find the cheapest o.e one. Euro's do 3 and one is a Bosch which I'm tempted by, which I can get for 150 through trade. These any good?

Also, what kind of a job is it to do? I've not even opened the bonnet to see where the bloody thing is?

I think there's a couple of brands,  Valeo & Bosch,  not sure what you'll have.   To remove you'll have to put the front end in the service position,  ie remove the bumper & bring the front panel forward,  after that the removal will be easy enough.

Alternator

Can be taken out from the bottom if you move some hoses out of the way. Small degree of gynaecology needed. I put a second hand unit in and as long as you get it tested before hand there shouldn't be a problem. Mine is in about 3 years now. Brian.

Sod it, I'm going to give it to a garage. I was going to do it myself but don't have access to a ramp at the moment and I can't be arsed to have the front end off again after only taking it off a matter of weeks ago

Your mad! Do it yourself! It won't take you long if you only had it off recently!

S4 and rs4 are different, the wiring loom plug is the change. if you want a good used one I have a couple here.

You can change the wiring loom connector, and then use which one you want.
