Noggymike

Shamx1166

Nice price

For a awesome machine
Ian_C

F*ck me, look at the price of this!?

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C690329

Wouldn't have thought mine (1999 T facelift, same colour and wheels, manual not auto, 150k on the clock) is worth a third of that?!
tanoga

£25k........ cheap but then again it is the slowest colour
Dave A

Rising yes but £25k for an Avus? 80k or not, no way. Imola possibly but then there's a £25k Imola going no-where, although admittedly no idea on condition.
yamz89

"For an Avus?" Take it easy!
Burnzybubbles

If you keep the s4 or rs4 in good condition, and I mean enthusiasts idea of good condition, the next 5-10 years I reckon the prices are going to creep up fairly well
Adrian E

I've found with C6 RS6 prices that dealers are just pricing off other adverts, irrespective of whether cars are shifting or not, just because there's not that many on sale to work out where the market is.

For genuinely top end examples in terms of low miles, impeccable history and condition, then there will always be top money available.  Anything average mileage or needing work/lacking history isn't going to benefit the same way.

Case in point was a Plus I was interested in - originally priced at £40k.  Gradually reduced over 3 months to £34k, and unsure if it actually found a buyer or has gone elsewhere in the trade.

I reckon 5 years will see RS4 values on the up still - the remaining run-on-a-shoe-string ones will have died so there'll be fewer to choose from and those that admired them as kids will be in a position to indulge.

Wondered how long that'd take!!!

Just generalising on colour/desirability, nothing wrong with Avus.  Don't worry though, one of the Nogaro boys will be along shortly to put me in my Misano coloured place

coullstar

you mean pink.....
Shamx1166

I don't think you lucky rs owners realise or are appreciating these iconic cars many are being broken
and I've not seen a recent up date of how many are in the UK atm

Seeing that US didn't get them but are highly desirable there..

With the economy strongest it's been, the rs well is and will be one of the most iconic cars of the future.

Even if one cost me 30k with 100k miles I wouldn't care as long as it's in my garage

Ps . The RS4 is awesome in all colours one of my ultimate favourite is that racing good wood Green
is a Epic, A Combo with Cream leathers HI TECH Recaros inserts and greenwood piping for me if one exists...

Imola/Nogaro/Misano/Avus/Black/Kingfisher and Goodwood are all pukka mate and I'd have one in each colour...

These in my opinion more of a car than a Evo 8 MR400 which are going for a lot more nowadays as they have few
variants in them from fq 320(S4) all way to MR400 which is in my opinion in rs4 league.

Not comparing car as totally different car but just in terms of value.

No problem Fireman Sam, but I think I'll leave that to MarkV as it's his thread
Markv

Having read the thread, some very worthwhile points from various perspectives.

Think ill hang on to mine a bit longer and look at getting my agreed
     insurance valuation upped a bit.

Plus we all know Noggy is the fastest colour.

Burnzybubbles

Noggy is the colour men choose, I bet if my great grandad who fought in WW1 had to choose the colour for a RS4 he'd of chosen noggy

There was an interesting thread around values a while ago:
http://audisrs.com/about60927.html

Inevitably prices will rise, particularly for the RS4, the top of the range models are always the ones that remain the most desirable "one to have". Dont ever see them spiraling to the point of old famous classics because they don't have a very interesting back story or motorsport heritage (unlike the ur).
Dryden51

Just out of interest, how many other Audis came in Avus Silver? TT?  As far as I'm aware the S4 b5 came in misano, imola, Nogaro etc.....but not Avus?? - Doesn't that make Avus silver rarer overall?? Who knows....
andy2

According to popular opinion (as judged by what the original buyers of these cars ordered) Avus seems to be the most desirable colour

Based on what's happened to the RS2, would expect values for RS4 to follow a similar trajectory, with good, well cared for examples settling somewhere around the £30k mark.  That said, the RS4 is the better known car so maybe it could eventually eclipse the RS2.  If someone down the pub asks what you drive and you say RS4, then everyone will know what the car is.  If you said RS2 then most people outside of enthusiast circles wouldn't have a clue what sort of car that was.

Think I've seen a few B6 S-lines in Avus, in fact someone round the corner has a 52 plate 2.5tdi Quattro and it looks like Avus I think.

D2 A8/S8 certainly did.
coullstar

Its a very slightly different colour IIRC on those cars.
Avus is a pearl colour so naturally will be more expensive, I suspect those are metallic ones.

No it doesn't, or it certainly doesn't work like that on mine. I can turn the esp on as an aid (in snow I'm guessing its mainly used).  I have my esp turned off all the time but if one or more of my tyres loses traction the esp light flashes until the car gains grip again. It happens a lot at the moment due to the road conditions.

I think what you're referring to with holding the car at 4k rpm is launch control, which I also have
Aragorn

ESP is on by default.

If you press the button, the light illuminates to tell you its disabled, not the other way round.

The car flashing the ESP light is the ESP working to regain traction.

Not sure on yours. on mine my car spins up when it's off but then again it's probably because it has 500+ bhp..
TurboHedge

Is traction control and electronic stability control not separate functions? My understanding is that pressing the esp button turns everything off,  but when the brakes are touched reactivates the esp element. I definitely get wheelspin when the the light is on (button pushed) but a massive traction control intervention when the light is off (button not pushed) which causes the light to flash to indicate the function is working.

Another rather optimistic B5 A4!
