rs6 not cranking

my rs6 stopped cranking wont do anything have changed the battery
have checked the constant power to the starter which is there i cant get to the switched side of it as its very tight to get to the starter motor
just wondering if any has had this or a similar issue before i start taking the engine out to get to the starter motor
thanks oli

Here's a thread where an unused tracker system caused the same issues you've got

There's also the ignition barrel, starter motor and a wiped key to look at too.

Hi thanks for the info checked with the tracker they said it is inactive but would not cause it to not crank as at the time that it was fitted they didn't have the capabilities to immobilise the car

So I have checked over all ignition side and it has to be the starter motor that has gone they as the switched live to the starter motor is getting there

So I rang Audi and asked how much to fit as it looks very hard to I get to and they said that it would be 14 hours labour as the engine would have to be removed 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

So after getting off the phone very quickly as my local dealers labour rate is 120 an hour plus vat I wasn't to keen to just take it there so I rang a few specialists in the area with not much look as a lot of them didn't want to touch the car (guessing there a bit scared when I said the dealer told me the engine has to come out) but eventually I found a place CLP Automotive in Sheffield. Who said that they would be able to remove and refit the starter in 5 hours by just drooping the subframe. 👍👍👍👍

So after talking to head technician Dan at CLP Automotive I got it recovered by them as they had a really good recovery rate a lot cheaper than anywhere else I could find I also went down to see them just to get an idea of what there like.

I couldn't be more happier with my car being worked on by them they have two great technicians that are Audi trained with around 20 years between them, and also they had two more c6 rs6s on the Ramps which they showed me around was nice to see them stripped down one they were fixing the oil pump leak on with the engine in.

What I'm most excited about is the 4 wheel drive rolling road they have just had delivered ( the exact one used in the r8 advert ) can't wait till it gets installed I think I've just found my new second home 😆😆😆😆

Just waiting to here back now they said it should be done for Tuesday next week will update when it's all sorted

Every single Audi answer for engine work on the C6 is "drop the engine", unless it's under warranty I'd never ask Audi to touch mine for anything more than an Oil change!

It sounds like you've found a good garage anyway, hope it goes well!

Rs6 not cranking

Just a quick update

I got my rs6 back today couldn't be happier with the service. The starter motor was changed 500 where Audi was wanting to charge me 300 just for the part and nearly 1500 for fitting. The car starts better than it ever has. The car got delivered back to my house cleaned and looking amazing. So guys if anyone around the Sheffield area is needing an Audi specialist I could highly recommend them (Clp Automitive) Forum Index -> Audi S6 & RS 6 (C6) quattro
