S6 paddle shift conversion

Hi folks, first post on this forum, looking to tap into some expertise please.

I have a 2000 S6 avant with steering wheel tiptronic buttons. I would like to change to a wheel with paddles, not fussed about adding audio controls etc.

Anyone have an idea what would be a straight swap without needing VAGCOM etc? I see mk1 tt wheels have been suggested before. Also it would be handy to know if the airbags are interchangeable as lots of tt wheels available without them.

Cheers

someone told me today that an RS6 steerage wheel will fit an S6, so maybe thats a route to go down

Just about to buy an S6 myself and having done a similar job on my previous B3 Alpina, I know it's well worth having the paddles than buttons, so I'd also like to know if the RS wheel is possible please

Paddle options

In the absence of any responses or information on this forum for several months, I've managed to find some really useful information elsewhere, and the link below will hopefully prove useful to anybody else who will be looking to do this:-

I have in fact now bought an RS6 wheel which is a straight swap, and I will be fitting it in a few days time. As the article explains, there are other wheel options - several which are also a direct swap plus  an alternative using a B6 S4 wheel which involves a little more technical modification (although not too arduous).

Just fitted today and am so pleased with it ( I previously did a similar exercise changing buttons to paddles on my Alpina B3) a huge improvement!

I didn't need to recode as per the article that I read and the real bonus is that, unlike the standard button version, I can change up/down from the D position (which reverts back to D if no further changes are made) and if S is selected it goes directly to manual changes (therefore no Sport mode now - so what!), best of both worlds. I presume that it must therefore work exactly the same way on RS6's?

So basically anybody considering this swap I wouldn't hesitate to recommend👌.
