S8 D3 Water leak from back window - MMI Issues HELP!

The glue keeping the back window in on my 2008 S8 gave way and allowed a lot of water into the boot. I have had this dried out and the amp etc taken out and cured but still having major issues. The DAB works, the Satnav now works again but the FM radio is having a melt down. It crackles and pops, won't tune in, it's driving me insane. Yes this happened a few months after the manufactures warranty expired!!! I'm lost I don't know what to do. Audi want 430 pounds to just inspect and then they would call the guys that I have had to look at it. Replacing the back window was 950 alone just for a glue seal Audi clearly knew was a weak point. Any tips, hints on what I can do would be most welcome.

The same thing happened on my car, I was lucky though, the day it was raining heavy the water shorted one of the plugs and the mmi went mental alerting me to the issue.

I removed everything from that area and took it inside to clean and dry out.

Pop the cover on yours and make sure there is no green corrosion anywhere on the pcb and connectors on the unit and the loom in the boot.

If there is clean in it up with something like contact cleaner and cotton buds.

Good luck

I have had that done by a professional company, but all are stumped as to why the MMI has only half came back to life.

You could be looking at a dead unit then, try ebay or here for a replacement http://sklep.tgi4.pl/index.php?id_category=31&controller=category

Before you do that, I would have a look at the ariel amplifier connections at the top of the back window as they may have been fudged when the window was put in.

My brother had some parts from a salvaged A8 that had a spill. He is telling me it's all good but i am away at the moment so will let you know. Thanks.
