Screwed over by Bedford Audi - Car not Fixed after 7 months

Hello All
I have a 2.2 S6 Avant. Auto. P reg with just over 107,000 miles on the clock.  It has been religiously serviced from new.
Last Autumn it developed a "judder" / "hesitation" at 2100 revs.  It feels a bit like when you hit a bump in the road or when the auto gearbox changes gear.
I booked it in with Audi Bedford on the 14th October 2009 and we went out for a drive with the Technician that was going to work on it that morning to demonstrate the problem.
7 months and over £2000 later my car still has the exact same problem and now Audi are refusing to work on it anymore....I am not happy
They have replaced the Vacuum hoses, Turbo Valve, Throttle Potentiometer, Air Mass Meter, Engine Speed Sensor, cleaned the MAP Sensor, had the Injectors professionally cleaned and re built the engine breather unit.
None of these things have fixed the problem but they are stating that all these things needed doing...........
The problem now occurs religously at 40 mph and 1600 revs in top gear and also at 2100, 2500revs and now it is starting to do it even higher.
Audi Bedford are telling Audi UK that it drives really smoothly and the problem hardly ever happens, however when we went for a 10 minute test drive with Audi Bedfords Service Manager, it did it 12 times....
We have also noticed that the tick over can sometimes be very erratic and the whole car shudders.
Any help would be greatfully received as I love this car and really want it fixed

Dude...forget about Audi unless you can get some money out of them.  If you want it fixed take it to one of the recommended specialists on this forum. Unit20, MRC etc...
AndeeKnits

Hi SJS
Thanks for the advice, where do I find details of these specialists??
From a dudess!!!

Ben does the technical dit in Audi Driver mag.
Doug

Have they done a pressure test or compression test? Next is maf, fuel filter and fuel pump on these cars. After that is some of the other bits that you have had done.

^^ There you go AndeeKnits - just the very person ahs poped up - Doug from MRC. OK it's a trek to Banbury but well worth it.

I'd lodge a complaint via Audi Customer Care after Doug's fixed the car for you claiming that Bedford were incompetent?

Welcome the the forum by the way - sad that your first post had to be such a tale of woe!

I would ask the Mods to delete this post, then I would call consumer direct.

I would first write an official letter of complaint, staining you feel that they have been poor with their diagnostics, as they have replaced parts that have failed to resolve the issue.

I would then ask for the parts to be replaced that were not faulty and changed for no apparent reason.

I would state that they are a main franchise and should have the correct diagnostic tools to complete this task without constantly substituting expensive parts.

I would state that you are not prepared to pay for these errors of judgment and ask them how they are to resolve this matter.

I would give them 14 working days to respond and I would state this in the letter.

You could see if MRC/Unit 20 etc can diagnose the fault themselves while the car's in their hands.

Get a report written of their findings and present this to Audi Bedford, asking for a refund on what's been done previous and that the rectification at MRC is completed forthwith.

Audi can sometimes be sensible, for example agreeing to replace failed DRC suspension on B7/C5 cars with aftermarkets items when proven to be faulty and under warranty.

Another vote for Ben at AVPerformance. Easily the best specialist I have ever used and knowledge is second to none. Has lots of nice S/RS motors in regularly, and good knowledge of the 5 pot lump having rebuilt loads and owning one himself.

Audi service ain't that good anymore sent my a6 last time took really long to respond again.
AndeeKnits

Thanks to all!

Hello and thank you to everyone that has responded!

Hi Doug they have supposedly done a compression test which was fine.
We have a local Audi TT specialist in Kempston, Bedford who we are taking it to this afternoon but if we get no joy there, then a trip to Banbury will be on the cards.....I think somebody has previously recommended you!

Hi Darren, I have spoken to Consumer direct and will be following their advice!  Basically Audi UK don't know what the problem is which I and Consumer Direct  think is pretty poor for a manufacturer.....

Another classic example of their incompetence is my dashboard light went, so when I was driving in the dark I could not see any of my instruments. I asked them for a quote to fix it.....2 weeks later I had to chase them, they said "do you want it fixed then"?
Forgive me if I am wrong but surely this is a Safety issue ???

sweet, just do the letter like I said.
consumer direct  may give you templated one.....

Darren

that's a really handy number to know... thanks Darren.
AndeeKnits

Just back from the TT centre and they have described the problem as "bucking" not mis-firing which is what Audi Bedford have been trying to fix for 7 months!
They think it is gearbox related but will know more was they have given it a good once over with a gear box specialist.
Also no charge until they know exactly what it is.....now thats what I call customer service!!!
quattrokid

I nhad an issue with my gearbox control valve in the gearbox, Ben scanned it with vagcom and found an intermittant fault developing.Caused all sortsof running problems for some reason

phone around is your best bet, also depends where youlive as well.
carbonfiber93

bad oxygen sensor?
Costash

I bet was 2 or 3 coilpacks gonne and loads of misfiring sometimes people had a wrong ideea of a boost leak.Hope you sorted by now.Remember the coilpacks are same age like your car ....

No one has mentioned the harmonic damper yet, Grizz ( unit20) for the guy who started this thread said mine was getting tired ( UrS 4 with now 236k miles on it.

Try " Spink" on classic Audi ( James is his name on XXX XXXXX (Edited out by DavidT at the request of the poster

I am coming down from Scotland at the end of August to get a gearbox change as well as a replacement harmonic damper.

Mine sometimes feels like I am driving a manual car at too slow a speed for a manual box but when I give it some revs , it smooths itself out and is fine again, I also so sometimes don't get kick down and sometimes when I do get it, it holds the gear and won't change up when I ease up on the throttle!

(Oh, James is in Scarborough )

I can't believe reading through this thread I recommended Ben Willianson

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE HIM

He WILL see you off
