So i bought a new toy! My 1992 URS4 Avant

so after driving the gearbox in my b5 to the end of its life i bought myself a URS4 Avant in red while i fit the new gearbox. not that it would take much doing but iv always wanted a 2.2 Turbo so i thought it was a good time to get one.

only thing i need now is advice on what to do with it?

i would like around 400bhp as a daily.

i have few bits to sort out like the interior light surround is missing from the head lining so the light wont stay up in there.

the idle takes ages to drop! poss sticky idle valve?

a few small trims and bits inside and out.

wheels need changing asap (youll see when i work out how to post pics from work)

i cant unlock the nsr door

but mostly its good

so anyone with any nice parts or good advice please fire away!

i'll post pics asap

The idea of that is bordering on sad but I do appreciate that a lot now aren't worth enough or are too far gone to justify saving.

I've very fond memories of the 5 cylinder cars and rarely see them these days. Get some pictures up for us when you're able

Looking forward to the pics.

Treat it to a weekend out on our club stand at the Silverstone Classic in July: http://audisrs.com/about55540.html

I would like to see some Ur S4/6 owners join us.

Nice car!!

Ran about in a mates one a few years back. I'd imagine they don't feel as big now as they once did. 9" wide Avus wheels were a nice option on them.

To get 400bhp (or close) you'd start by going for RS2 spec to start with. Bigger turbo, bigger injectors, exhaust and remap will get an easy reliable 380bhp.

AAN engine in your car is basically identical to ABY engine in S2. Only difference is the inlet manifold which is generally regarded better for tuning than the ABY although I can't say why specifically!

S4 also has the digital boost gauge whereby the S2/RS2 does not.

First 5cyl 20v was in the short wheelbase sport quattro, then the RR engine in the ur quattro. The 3b came in the first S2 which like the RR both still had distributors. AAN, ABY and ADU from the RS2 all had coil packs.

Just some trivia there for you.

For tuning info on the AAN 20v, the best resource is S2 Forum. A few ur S4's there but lots of tuning alternatives for the 20v 5cyl in general.

I like the sound of this   i still cant manage to get any pics to upload, it just fails every time i try but if i cant do it today ill get it done from my home computer later tonight.

a reliable 380 bhp could be ok, im sure i can live with that

Got my first mod last week, bought a 034 RS2 exhaust mani from Clive, had a quick chat with him but i didnt realise until he left and i saw his reg plate that iv seen his B5 loads of times round here! infact i once sat on the M1 at the side of him in my noggy wishing i had his wheels looking like twins. ha!

some of you may remember my B5? its been in a couple of mags before i got it years ago, had bentley wheels and air ride at one point. now its back to coilovers and real wheels lol.

also i signed up to the S2Forum a few days ago so ill be hopefully sourcing some parts through there. i cant get onto it from work though! so many things are blocked on my work computer!! grrrrrrrr

Cheers dude, i agree the badges would look nice but i like how sleeper it is at the moment.

maybe the rings and a quattro badge but leave the s4 badge off as its no longer available anyway

so many thing have happened between my last post and now, firstly i built and fitted some RH ZW1 wheels to the car.

being only 17" they were far too small so there on ebay now

i know the photos aren't great but i will get some better ones with more detail but i now have full s6 half alcantara interior, full roof lining etc, H&R lowering springs, full 3" stainless with downpipe, 034 manifold, 710 delete, compomotive MO6's, a spoiler, s6 rear lid light panel carbon dash and door trims, roof bars and roof box on top, and a mk1 golf splitter which im not sure about.

yes it has a big hole in the front but im going to put an fmic in and honeycomb grill the cutout.

work in progress
