There are minor ones .. that pattern really screws up your eyes (which is why they use it) .. I'd guess (hopefully) they use a stock A6 chassis for the mules with minor mods if needed ..

However here is hoping for bigger blisters
aka_dk

erm ... thats an S6 ... 4.0 V8 TFSI

will be debuted at Frankfurt in Sept
marc1

Phew!
speedfr38ky

hmmm imagining with blisters it will look pretty juicy.

BUT

not keen on a generic engine, thats going to be used in every other car in the vw group, or indeed the hideous vw door handles. 4.0 v8 guessing it wont have the same tuning potential....

was hoping fot the specialness that the c6 has, with v10, lambo derived engine thats what makes the rs6 unique.

The RS 6 will be the only Audi to use the twin turbo version of the 4.0 V8

so it will be special

and will have massive tuning potential over the 550PS stock

add in more favourable power to weight ...
speedfr38ky

will take your inside knowledge as veritas dave.

but wont the v8 twin tubo be used in the bentley conti aswell?
quattrokid

aye !!
Nudenut

Next year for the RS ??
speedfr38ky

Just saw the IAA press release on the new S6, S7, and S8 models.....seems they are ALL using the new twin turbo V8, from between 420-520 bhp respectively.

maybe rs6 and rs7 will retain a V10 ?? hope so...
ollys

Does anyone else think that the new S6 looks really rather tasty? If you need to cart around a large number of children and want to have some fun in comfort and style, it ticks a large number of boxes!

I've never really been a total fan of the B8 A4 styling, but I think this takes that theme on to much more coherent level, refines it really elegantly and desirably. Works for me!

Defo agree with you olly!

I love it!
Nudenut

Have to admit I'm a fan of the new styling, went to the A6 launch, Audi spent a lot of time explaining the design ethics, main lines along the body integrating with lights etc bla bla... but it works for me.

Love the new front end, think it will really stand out side by side with the C6.

If the ECU is breakable I'm in the new RS6 back end of next year!!
marc1

Stuck in traffic the other day behind a brand new C7 A6 S Line Saloon, so got to check it out propery and it's really grown on me, so can only imagine the S6 will be even nicer.

ECU will be breakable Nige (MRC and your own car are proof) , you just won't be able to "flash" the ECU through the diagnostic port, as you cant with most VAG products for about the last year.

Audi have resorted to putting tamper proof faceless screws on the ECU housings to stop you getting access.  Some Tuners have already got round this by grinding them off, and replacing them with the same screws.  You'd never know anyone had been in there and they also reset the flash counter, so warranties are not effected.

The only danger is of course, is at the next service, Audi decide to update your ECU, and overwrite the Map.
Nudenut

Have had my ECU flash updated by Audi a few times without it effecting the map.

As recent as Weds I had it re-coded remotely by Audi UK for my Ceramic brakes... they see all the mapping entries (even commented back to my Master Tech on the volume of work done, engine/box ) don't believe thet don't

Note: They do want to download a full readng but I refused at mo (can't chance it pre 'ring trip), can't remember what he called it or why but it's now done at service (ALL cars) and updates the central database I understand. I said to my Tech that they may have just grabbed the data anyway but he was pretty sure they hadn't as he was watching throughout.

My take on all this.. all the time the car is out and about creating a stir I'm pretty sure they're happy, all good publicity for Audi.

Warranty claim, well, I'm out of warranty in 6months anyhow, car has been faultless over the last couple of years with the MRC map and have have no reason to believe that will change.. nor does my master tech

I'm sure Minhea/Doug would have told you if this was a potential problem, knowing them, they will have bypassed something.

Don't know if they've tried to Flash any updates to the adresses that affect the remap, but as I've said, MRC guy's would have highlighted any potential issues for sure!

Keep flying the flag Nige!

I'd be happy with that and the 4.0T up front.

It can't be a stupid question, it can't..... But I can't work out why and which ECU would be updated for carbon brakes. Why would an ECU (and which one) care about carbons ? Bias can't change, peak retardation doesn't change, handbrake force must be same, they still have wear sensors dont they ?!?

Put me out of my misery and enlighten me please !....

Unless they remove your ECUs, Audi cannot download the current map that's in either one of your ECUs, believe me In fact, nobody in this country can, short of removing and opening the ECUs
If they decided to update your car, just let me know and we'll remap the updates without a problem

Yes, ALL the measureables you mention changed, even handbrake!

Yes, still have wear sensors.

Not sure if he could download the map... but he told me exactly what and when it had been done over the phone.
He wanted to download the history from what I understand, told me from a few months ago Audi now do this during service... was a nice guy tbf

Not directed at you Nigel as I am sure you have no clue- just a general musing on my half as this raises an interesting Privacy Question to me ..

By history I am assuming its sensor data.. Do we know what data is stored and now downloaded .. What Historical Location data gets uploaded, such as driving style (can be derived from all the Air bag and ABS sensor inputs), max speeds and lat long of when that speed was achieved etc etc

How does Audi intend to use this ?? .. is it anonymous ? or does VIN get tied to the data ??  Could an Insurance company get the data post accident claim to verify your claim ?  Could a court demand Audi release it ?

Similar to all the data collection done on Mobile phones, if the data is classed as personal or can easily be tracked to a personal piece of data and therefore to a specific, the user has to grant specific permission for the data to be uploaded and a clear Privacy policy on data collection and usage must be in place

Nudenut

Could ask them the question under the Freedom Of Information Act?

All I know is I refused it by way of the Master Tech and that was fine... however will they always ask (as I questioned at the time).

If indeed the info is of that nature!... I'll dig deeper!!

Looks well planted for what it must weigh!?
aussie rs6

I wont be getting one unless can be mapped easily to 700bhp.

If C7 cant achieve that power level, will keep the c6 ttv10 and look to lighten its weight - carbon fibre panels, etc.
MIR786

Looks really quick and well planted almost looks unreal going round a corner like that knowing that its an estate im just trying to listen closely to the video to hear whats under the hood hahahahh   I Hope audi keep up the reputation and have way more power than the new M5 600bhp would be nice or more i know it will be a lot lighter and all but a mrc'd c6 rs6 would be a lot quicker i think the C6 RS6 has come to that stage were its gonna be a tough one to improve on
speedfr38ky

Looks v nice indeed. So guessing the c7 can be expected mid to late next year. Will look the business. maybe could be pryd away from the c6 if tuneable to over 700.
colinurquhart

Do you reckon we could get a group buy??
MIR786

A group buy would be great im defo up for that could contact my audi dealer to find out but i think theres a long time yet also want to find out some stats and power before i commit until then got time to enjoy the C6 RS6 for the moment and get a remap done
