Stage 2 APR or MRC?

Not technically S related but I'm soon to be getting into a D4 A8 with the 3.0 TFSI engine which is the same as in the S4/S5.  I'm thinking of going Stage 2.  I'm up in Manchester so Awesome GTI is very close to me for an APR map and pulley however I have a good friend who had his S4 done at MRC in Banbury.

Pricing looks similar and I've been told by my friend that MRC do before and after dyno runs and also do a proper bespoke map whereas APR is just a generic map.  If that's right, surely the long drive down to MRC is worth it.

Do any of you guys have any advice?

Cheers.

personally I'd go MRC, I've done an easy 10K miles on mine without a problem, since going stage 2 a year ago. That includes a 45 min stretch of 130 -140 mph on the autobahn

What's the age of that A8? If it is 2014 or later then it might have the CREC engine with the SIMOS 16 ECU which hasn't been cracked yet.

Firm or Phirm?
If the latter, then probably a big of a trek for the OP from Manchester!

need to know the age to see what gearbox it has as well as the box will need mapped for best results.

Thanks for the swift responses gents.

It's a 2011 3.0 TFSI so early model with an 8 speed ZF.  I presume these engines have already been cracked so remapping will be easy enough.  Not sure if the ZF box is worthy of mapping?

Doug, it was Kevin who put me onto you guys.  He has a white S4 Avant with matt black wheels.  Took it to you guys towards the end of January for Stage 2 and gearbox map too.  Couldn't speak highly enough of MRC.
