Stolen recovered RS4..

Hi folks, my neighbours Rs4 was stolen but recovered in a scrapyard dumped.

He doesn't know exactly what's missing, police has the car for a few days for forensics but so far what's gone for sure is the bucket seats and the mmi he's too distraught too talk too much about it as it happens when e grandkids were over and it's beating him up knowing they could of broken inside if they couldn't drive it away.

He's phoned some Audi dealers but they haven't been helpful with getting him prices all they've said is that loads of different parts will need to be ordered. Same with the MMI system.

Would the car be a write off? It's a 2014 with 15k on the clock, he doesn't know the figure but he paid a few k when selecting the bucket seats when he ordered so will it cost him that again to replace?

Many thanks
Trig

These RS4's are being stolen, just for the seats.

I have seen an article that says it cost around 20K (yes, 20,000) to replace the seats, as they are not available in one piece, they have to be bought in parts and assembled!Very labour intensive, hence the prioce.

How much?! 20k!! What the hell! I just read the article interesting read. This has seriously shaken him up a bit that he says that he won't bother having a car like that ever again.

Why don't Audi sort this out, beyond ridiculous. Guess for them another Audi down the line will be ordered if written off so it's in their best interests to not make it difficult for the scum to steal. Disgraceful.

Those articles relate to cases with the B7. Seats in the B8 are different and the higher value cars at present would mean seats alone less likely to be a write off in my opinion.

The issue I beleive with the B7 recaros was due to them not being available complete, only multiple parts to be built into a seat.

Fingers crossed the insurance settles appropriately either way.

Just looked on Etka and it appears the B8 seats are sold in exactly the same way as the B7s were - i.e. all components individually, then assembled.

Frankly if the seats have gone and the MMI I would assume there's a lot more damage not being mentioned as a result of the removal of components.

Hope they write it off and pay out quickly would be the best option I suspect....

This is not only an issue with Audis. I have heard of a load of Vauxhall Corsa's local to me that have had their front ends stolen during the night on peoples drive ways

Guys Assessor's come round and within 5 minutes written the car off. Close to 25k to replace damage plus other potential damage.

It'll turn up online somewhere in due course, I suspect.....

You might want to get your friend, to show these following links to the police?

These are bucket seats for the later 2012+ B8 RS4, first one has been around for a few weeks but the second only 6 days and a no reserve auction - i.e. move on quick.

They're 2 different eBay users?

Using 'bucket' as a keyword, I couldn't find any for sale on here using the search facility either.

Couldn't agree more with you. As suspicious as a nun in a brothel. Seller needs to fully explain where these seats come from and be able to back it up with paperwork before I change my mind.
